Second day in a row, I started a book in the evening and finished it. Another Jesse Stone story.
Read some of the other reviews and it comes out that nobody can stand Jesse’s ex-wife. Comment after comment of what a bitch she is and it’s true.
That explains why she wasn’t in any of the movies.. I’m enjoying the dialogue which is so clever and the growth and characters of suitcase and Molly. And of course, then there is Jesse.

I haven't read the Sunny Randall series, and apparently one of her books - Blue Screen - crosses paths with Jesse Stone and a couple things happen in that book are mentioned in High Profile so I ended up reading a Wikipedia article about Blue Screen so I could figure out a couple things. These weren't part of the main story of High Profile (still wishing we could drop Jenn off a pier...or a cliff), but it was a little irritating to have things just sort of pop up and not have a clue where they came from.
That being said, High Profile is a great book. I'm thoroughly enjoying this series.

Great as always. The characters in the Jesse Stone Series are just great. And I love the crossover into Spenser's world.

Jesse Stone is a great character, and I will read every book in this series, but this effort is weak. Jen, the girlfriend is getting tiresome and too consuming.

Not quite as good as the last few, but very good, nonetheless. I’m getting a little weary of his screwed up relationship with Jenn but , really, that’s the story. This crime wasn’t quite as interesting as the ones in the other books. Still enjoyed the hell out of it. I guess that say a lot about Parker.

More like a 3.8, but I rounded up.

Book 6 in the series finds Stone dealing with a high profile murder. A lot of suspects but no clues.

Typical Stone storytelling with a little too much Jenn. I really wish her character would go away because after six books, it's old and tiresome.

But, I enjoyed the way the story tied together at the end, which is why I say a 3.8 instead of a 3.

I love Jesse Stone. I love Sunny Randall. I don't buy their relationship though and it really hurt this book. The case was interesting and had a satisfying conclusion, but the book overall felt like a misfire. Jenn is my least favorite part of these books and she was ever present.

Parker can write a decent detective story. The characters always have a quirky feel and there is a satisfying arc to the story. In this one, two murders seem to have no leads, and then an offhand remark breaks the ice. A womanizing media icon is murdered with a mistress. Side stories about how the inexplicable love can cause men to do things they wouldn't.
