Doctor Hudson Hamilton has had brief encounters in Whispers with Lacy. Both have felt the attraction and pull of the other. Then one fateful night binds Hudson and Lacy forever. When Hudson and his son move back Whispers they find themselves together again. Lacy does not want help from anyone and continues to shoulder her stress of caring for her mother both medically and financially. Hudson wants to do whatever he can to lessen Lacy’s stress.
Hudson can feed me soup while calling me a good girl any day of the week and twice on Sunday. The light suspense thrown into this story played so well into their characters. I want to spend all my time in Whispers. You get to meet Hudson in Tanner’s story which is not a necessary read (but you really should read it because we all need more dreamy, man-obsessed, billionaires in our lives).
I was torn if I thought this was more open door or if I would’ve rated as a spicy story, however based on the narration and the way that the lines were delivered, I had to bump it up. Patrick and Amanda delivered such a good story and those spicy moments, it took it to another level. There were times where I felt like I was intruding on a very intimate moment for them instead of just listening to a story.

I was excited to see that Hudson, book two in The Billionaires of Whispers, is going to be coming to audiobook. I think audiobooks are great for someone like me who has a long drive on the weekend when doing my errands or just want to get some reading done while I’m working on some crocheting and knitting projects. This time Amanda Stribling and Patrick Zeller help tell the story about Lacey and Hudson.
I read the e-book of this story and gave it four and a half stars, and the audiobook is getting just that. The story was able to transfer over to audio format so well, and really, I was able to picture the story in my head while it was being told. It’s great hearing the words come to life, and it always impresses me how this adds another level and depth to the story.
Now the spice in this book is a solid four chili peppers, which is the same as the book, as none of the scenes were edited. However, with Samantha Skye, she was able to know when to fade to black for the spice. It’s great to see an author know when to give it to us and when to just let our imaginations run wild.
While I loved hearing Hudson come to life, I did feel like the narrators were a bit off. There were points in the story where Amanda Stribling (Lacey) lost the southern accent while she was still being the same character, and Patrick Zeller (Hudson) just felt odd at points in the story. I did think that together they sounded great, and I am giving the narration to his three microphones.
I do feel like people should take another trip to Whispers with Hudson. It’s a great story and is written so well that you will enjoy seeing some old characters along with getting to know new ones a bit better. Hudson is available wherever you get your audiobooks, and good news, if you are a KOBO Plus member! Hudson is available with your membership.
ALC in exchange for an honest review.
I originally ARC read this book back in January 2025. My overall opinions and thoughts on the story are the same and can be found below. This review will focus on the audiobook itself.
Lacey and Hudson's story didn't really work for me, as I didn't connect with them the way I did with Tanner and Victoria in book one.
However, my overall enjoyment of this book did improve because of listening to it. Not every couple an author writes will resonate with every reader, and that is the case with this book for me. I absolutely think the story is worth giving a go, especially in audiobook format, as both narrators did a fantastic job, and because of their performances, I found myself feeling more invested in the romance this time around because of the emotion and life they put into the characters. There are some great small-town vibes and spice sprinkled throughout, and some of the extra little noises Patrick gifts the listener with in those scenes were much appreciated. 🔥
Audiobook releases on July 25th.

Original ARC Review ⬇️
Book 2 in the Billionaires of Whispers series follows Lacy & Hudson. Lacy is still mentally recovering after the events of book one that she was caught up in, while also burning the candle at both ends with her job and taking care of her sick mother. Hudson is moving back to town to take over as the town doctor with his son Harvey in tow. Both he and Lacy feel a pull towards the other and have for a while, so now that he is back in town, can they navigate her reluctance to get involved when her life is already busy, as well as the significant age gap, among other things, to find their HEA?
Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this as much as I did book one. I didn't connect with either Lacy or Hudson individually or as a couple. Frankly, Lacy's reasons for not getting involved with Hunter were ridiculous. I understand her mother is sick and Lacy has had to be her caregiver for the majority of her life, but the way Lacy refused to even go out anywhere unless her mom had someone with her seemed excessive, especially as, from what I could gather, her mom is actually in remission throughout this book and not actively in the throes of her illness. It was like Lacy was infantilizing her mom to a degree and just came across very weird to me. And her internal monologue was nothing but pining for and lamenting about wanting Hudson whilst actively rejecting his attempts to date her; it just made no sense to me.
Hudson was okay... except that as a single dad, he sure did seem to forget he had a son. There are hardly any scenes of him actively being a parent; his son is constantly palmed off on others for sleepovers, etc., in order for the story between the main couple to progress, so Lacy's "connection" with the kid felt very forced and surface level at best. The drama surrounding Lacy also did nothing for me, and how she chose to handle it and how it played out in the end was eye-roll-inducing and very telenovela-ish. There was some decent spice, but a book needs more than that for it to work for me. I'm just left underwhelmed, which is such a shame, as I remember really enjoying book one.🤷♀️ 🌶🌶
" I slowed my feverish kiss, wanting to take it all in. Her little sounds hit my lips like torture, and there's no way I can stay away from her anymore. This is just another moment to solidify that fact. No more going slow. No more dancing around each other. She is my girl, and now I want the world to know."

The audiobook for this story was done so well. Amanda Stribling and Patrick Zeller did an amazing job bringing Lacey and Hudson to life. As a super independent girlie like Lacey, I completely related to her reluctance to allow Hudson or anyone in to really help her (although I’m sure I could have given it my best shot if there was a hot billionaire doctor trying to help me out...). She wants so badly to have that support system and companionship but when you have operated that way for so long, it is very hard to let go of that. Hudson was just perfection. The way he sets out to show Lacey she can rely on him as opposed to just giving her words was book boyfriend goals. He respects her independence and doesn’t try to take that away - he just wants to be there WITH her. I am completely loving this series and cannot wait for the next one!

🌹 Small Town Romance

🌹 Single Dad
❤️ Age Gap
🌹 Suspense
While this story can be read as a standalone, there are events from the first book in the series that do come in to play in this story. After Hudson rescued Lacey in the last book she thought maybe something might happen between them at that time. Hudson had to wrap up his life in Los Angeles and prepare to move himself and his son to Whispers. He's also a bit leery about the age gap between them and the fact that he is a widowed single father, while Lacey is barely out of college. That doesn't stop the sizzling attraction between them every time they are in the same room. For her part Lacey keeps reminding herself that billionaires and women barely scraping by are not compatible so she will settle for just wishing and watching.
Overall the audiobook was fantastic and I really enjoyed listening to it. The performances were not over the top and you could feel what Lacey and Hudson were feeling throughout. Definitely recommend!
While I thoroughly enjoyed this one, please check your trigger warnings before reading or listening. Nothing super descriptive but could be difficult for some readers.
Thank you so much to Samantha Skye for the ALC of this story!

I listened to the audiobook version of this story and although it took me a bit to warm up to these characters, I'm so glad I stuck with it. Lacey and Hudson are so cute together. The way Hudson is there for Lacey, so patient and sweet to her shows the kind of man he really is. Poor Lacey went through so much too, between her mom being sick and her other traumatic experiences, it's no surprise she doesn't want a relationship. And yet Hudson is so irresistible. The way he took care of her, supported her, provided her with the love and experiences she deserved was so touching. Then you add the spicy scenes, and OMG, hot, hot, hot. The narration by Amanda Stribling and Patrick Zeller was very well done, bringing plenty of emotions to the table.
If you read and loved Hudson as much as I did, the audiobook is a must listen. Amanda Stribling and Patrick Zeller brought Lacy and Hudson to life like you wouldn't believe. The audiobook was like experiencing the story for the first time and I fell in love with this couple and Whispers all over again. They brought the swoon, the angst, the yearning, and all the emotions to life in such a realistic way that you felt like you were part of the story. Patrick Zeller as our loverboy Hudson was dreamy in audio.
I've been waiting to devour Hudson since reading Tanner and the wait was so worth it!
Whispers is becoming one of my favorite small towns with these sexy and swoony billionaire's and their dirty mouths. Single dad Hudson returns home to Whispers as the new doctor in town, and has his sites set on the woman he's been thinking about for years, Lacy.
Lacy's carrying around the weight of the world on her shoulders and always gives to others but not herself. When Hudson becomes her mom's doctor, their paths begin to cross more frequently and that spark ignites.
Hudson should've just written a prescription of himself for Lacy because he's just what the doctor ordered for this strong and independent woman. The burn may have been slow but that flickering flame ignighted into an all out inferno when these two finally gave in to the chemistry brewing between them.
Samantha Skye has a way with words that will suck you in from beginning to end. With Hudson, she delivers the perfect blend of swoon, spice, sweetness and a little bit of suspense that will have you falling in love with her story and characters.

FMC Lacy is employed by Whiteman’s Distillery (Tanner and my man, Connor Whiteman). MMC Hudson is Connor’s best friend, and a successful widowed dad, returning to his small hometown to be the town doctor. Lacy’s mom has cancer and of course Hudson is her doctor. Lacy is her main caregiver in addition to her full time job at Whiteman’s. I really enjoyed the pacing of the novel and Hudson and Lacy’s relationship. The suspense twist had my jaw on the floor. I did wish that Lacy would have opened up to Hudson about what was going on with her instead of making him put all the puzzle pieces together on his own. I enjoyed the duet narration by Amanda Stipling and Patrick Zeller. This was a good read. It’s the second book in the Billionaires of Whispers series. Connor is still my #1 in this series, but Hudson was a solid story.

Much like with most of Samantha’s books, I had a hard time putting it down. I am completely invested in the small town of Whispers.
Seeing the connection between Hudson and Lacy in the first Whispers book, I knew this one wouldn’t disappoint. Their connection is magnetic, and watching Lacy grow and “spread her wings” with his help is beautiful. And of course watching them with little Harvey pulls at the heart strings.
Can’t wait for the next book!
