After reading Tanner, the first book in this series, I found myself simultaneously wishing Whispers was a real place and wishing for the rest of the series to be published already. Lacy and Hudson together did not disappoint. I loved their dynamic, the patience Hudson showed, and the way the suspense played out. I was surprised by the suspense of it all and just loved how it all came together.
I am so looking forward to reading Connorβs story.
Thank you to Samantha Skye and The Author Agency for the opportunity to read this in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is the second book in the Billionaires of Whisper. In this small town romance we have Hudson a very wealthy single dad who wife died from cancer. He made a lot of money and now he wants a slower pace of life for him and his son. Although they believe he will bring technology to the hospital and upgrade it. He made it his mission to go see Lacy upon his return to town although he hid it behind a wellness visit for her mother who is sick. Lacy used to work at the bar and one night she had a terrible thing happen to her and luckily Hudson rescued her. Lacy and Hudson have a flirtatious relationship before the incident and since then she has refused to respond to his texts. Although she was in counseling she is still really floundering. She having nightmares and has some serious trust issues. Hudson is such a great guy in his pursuit of her he tries to be mindful of her issues and his own. This was a really great story. I would encourage you to read the first book Tanner before reading this book.

Hudson rescued Lacy from a traumatic experience, but he had to return home. The book picks up when Hudson has made the necessary arrangements to move to his hometown with his son, and he is going to takeover the local hospital. As the townβs doctor, Lacyβs mom is one of his patients, and he decides to bring in a specialist to help (who also happens to be his late wifeβs sister). Hudsonβs need to help Lacy is a recurring theme throughout the story; he is ready to further their relationship whenever Lacy is ready, but she has a hard time counting on people after her past. This book might have my favorite first date ever; he is so attentive to what she needs, including not missing out on Beetlejuice. Connorβs story is next, and we will get to see more of these small town billionaires.

Hudson knew he had something special with Lacy that is why he ran to pack up his life and get closer as soon as he could. Lacy is overwhelmed with responsibilities and has no time for extras; including Hudson. But Hudson is patient man and is willing to wait for her no matter how long it takes.
But someone else wants Lacy too and she hasnβt told anyone about it. Will the stalker get her before Hudson can?

A welcome return to Whispers as billionaire doctor and single father Hudson returns to his hometown to the girl he canβt forget after he rescued her (if you havenβt already, read the first book in this series and theirβ¦β¦well I suppose you could call it a βmeet uglyβ). The widower didnβt care about the age gap, he just knew heβd fallen hard and fast for the girl who spent her life looking after her sick mother. All he had to do was persuade her to take a chance on him which wasnβt going to be easy.
Thereβs a lot to be said for an older, more experienced hero especially one that gives off such dominant vibes, I thought Iβd loved Tanner, but Hudson may just have the edge on him, as he determined he was going to spoil Lacy and look after her. It wouldβve been so easy for her to let him take care of all her problems but she had an independent streak a mile wide and a stubbornness not to ask for help leading Hudson to what was like an old-fashioned courtship albeit one that was heavy on the steam and with some seriously sizzling flirty behaviour. Even though she wasnβt a virgin, she had an air of innocence despite her party piece with the cherry not seeming to realise the effect it would have on any man let alone one who was interested in her. If Hudson hadnβt already wanted her before witnessing that skill, he definitely did afterwards and then with a simple bowl of chicken soup he claimed her heart and mines as well. With a fantastic flow and told from dual points of view, their story had the perfect balance of romance and suspense as lurking in the background was a threat from Lacyβs college days determined she wouldnβt escape him a second time and leading to an eventful finale.
I loved that the author opted to use different narrators for Hudson with duet narration in this instance provided by Amanda Stribling and Patrick Zeller This was my first time listening to either performer and I loved the slight twang Amanda gave Laceyβs voice reinforcing her smalltown girl background. There were some parts of her story where Lacey had to face up to some dark periods in her life and Amanda managed to imbue all her fears into her performance. As for Patrick, he was perfectly cast as the more mature Hudson bringing him to life. Move over Tanner, theres a new daddy in town and his name is Hudson.
