I really enjoyed reading this in the middle of my marathon training

As with many young people around the world, Murakami was a gateway into more "serious" literature. I mean, damn, he's the author whose work I've read the most of. The association I have with his fictional works may be stuck in times past, but this one really did it for me. Been meaning to get at it for some time.

Gave up on my marathon training as I was regularly running 15+ mile sessions last year. Bored with training is what I tell myself. Now that I'm back in the running mix, thought I'd finally give this a try. Not exclusively a book about running, yet reads as a stream of conciousness one may have whole on a long run.

Reinvigorated my love of something I discovered at what I always assumed was a late age. Little did I know, Murakami didn't start distance running until 33 when he quit his full time of ~running~ his jazz club.

Now I understand why people hate it so much when I talk about running

A slightly odd book. I read it years ago, but remember so many details.
