♠ Oh, non me ne fregava un cazzo. Ma proprio un cazzo di niente e di nessuno e quando i due personaggi che avrebbero dovuto farti da spalla risultano più interessanti e divertenti di te capisci che c'è un problema grosso e arrivano le 2 stelle. Ringraziami.
♠ Poi basta con questa storia del 'non mi fido di lui però mi ha salvata quindi è buono'. No, è una stronzata. Perchè nessuna protagonista pensa mai che sia tutto un trucco? Perchè anche quelle con un infanzia difficile e problemi relazionali finiscono per fidarsi subito del primo pene che vedono? Perchè non pensano mai che il tizio finga per ingannarle (che poi non succede e loro sono buoni e incompresi perché ti pare che fanno le cose fatte bene)??
♠ Detto questo posso dire, di nuovo, che non me ne fregava un cazzo? Ma proprio zero!? Più andavo avanti e più mi pesava leggere e non posso nemmeno dare la colpa al suo essere noioso perché in realtà succedono cose, metà supertelefonate e prevedibilissime però almeno i personaggi sono sempre di corsa. Però non mi fregava un cazzo lo stesso. L'ho finito in una settimana perché non mi piace recensire un libro se non l'ho finito ma non mi interessava proprio conoscere la fine.

Ini seri kedua karangan Jay Kristoff yang pernah aku baca. Nama beliau memang tidak asing lagi di dunia buku Sci-Fi. Buku seri pertama beliau yang pernah aku baca adalah seri Illuminae. Sekarang sedang baca buku ketiga dari seri Illuminae tersebut dan jujur aja aku suka banget sama gaya bercerita beliau. That’s why I decided to give this book series a chance.
LifeL1k3 Ini menceritakan tentang seorang gadis bernama Eve yang bersama dengan sahabat baiknya, Lemon & Crickets, menemukan sebuah (atau seorang?) lifelike (android yang super mirip dengan manusia tapi memiliki kekuatan dan kepandaian lebih dari manusia biasa). Eve berhasil menyelamatkan dan menghidupkan kembali si lifelike bernama Ezekiel ini. Tapi tidak diketahui oleh Eve bahwa banyak hal yang disembunyikan oleh si Ezekiel ini.
Sejak hari itu, hidup Eve dkk menjadi tidak tenang karena dikejar-kejar banyak pihak. Kenapa banyak yang mengincar hidup Eve? Siapa Ezekiel sebenarnya? Apa hubungan Ezekiel dengan masa lalu Eve?
Yang pasti buku ini memiliki banyak sekali plot twist. Lies upon lies. Sedikit demi sedikit akan ada banyak kebohongan yang berhubungan dengan hidup Eve terungkap dalam buku ini. So many surprises sampai cape sendiri. Sampai menjelang akhir aku sempat kepikiran “You can’t surprise me anymore, dear author.”

Untuk ceritanya sendiri sebenarnya agak sulit dimengerti di awal, karena buku ini banyak menggunakan istilah-istilah dan bahasa slang khas Sci-Fi yang aku ngga terbiasa dengar. Seperti contoh OOC, Bot, Android, true cert, fizzy, and so many others. Tapi ngga lama, akhirnya terbiasa sih.
Dunia post-apocalyptic di buku ini menarik banget untuk ditelusuri lebih dalam. Full of action. Ga aneh, pemeran utamanya aja tipe-tipe cewek half-human jagoan gitu. Intinya karakter-karakter di buku ini terbentuk dengan baik. Ngga hanya pemeran utama, tetapi juga pemeran-pemeran tambahan seperti Lemon Fresh (iya itu nama salah satu karakter di buku ini), Cricket, Kaiser, Ezekiel Faith and Gabriel dkk. Pembaca diajak mengenal masing-masing karakter tersebut lebih dalam, kadang lewat adegan-adegan singkat atau dari cara mereka ngobrol atau bercanda dengan satu sama lain.
Eventhough it feels like this book is full of awesomeness, sayangnya ada hal yang bikin buku ini jadi terasa ngga perfect menurutku. Jujur, agak gemes sama romancenya. Ya di satu sisi aku merasa ngga terlalu penting juga ada romance di buku ini, karena interaksi best-friend-forever antara Eve, Cricket, dan Lemon sudah cukup menarik. Kadang terasa agak lebay/corny romancenya. Tapi ngerti sih, romance Ezekiel dan Eve penting untuk kelangsungan cerita di buku ini. But still..
Anyway, aku tetap merekomendasikan buku ini. Terlebih bagi para pecinta Sci-Fi universe di luar sana. You’re gonna love the world Kristoff created in this book. Bagi yang suka dengan cerita persahabatan, family issue, diselingin action seru dan guyonan lucu, this book is made for you.

Not enough stars in the universe to rate this book. Seriously. I kept hearing it was fantastic, but I had no idea it would be one of the best books I've ever read, let alone become one of my favourite books ever. Honestly, I don't even know where to start with the praise. Author Jay Kristoff's writing is as masterful as always, the story is incredibly complex and surprising, the setting is AWESOME (if you liked MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, you need to read this book now), and the characters are completely memorable. Eve is a hero worth cheering for, a strong girl who isn't afraid to throw down for the people she loves. Lemon is absolutely hilarious and has one of the best twists in the story. Ezekiel is as complex as he is sexy. The action is visceral and heart-pounding and basically never stops. But now let's get to the real I might have picked up on one of the twists, and while Lemon's twist (see what I did there? :P) was shocking, nothing about this story prepared me for the ending. And I'm talking all the way to the very last, very devastating final pages. I literally do not know how I'm going to cope now. I've heard a sequel is on the way and that had better be true because I need more closure. I need more of this world, more of these characters, just plain MORE. It was an incredible ending, but I'm not ready to say goodbye to this new world yet. I'm not sure I ever will be...
this book moved from 4 starts to 4.5 to 5 stars, and that almost never happens!!!!!
the book in essence ist really for anyone, what I mean by that is for someone like me, who has never watched or liked high-tech machine movies, or movies like star wars or robotics in general, this felt like something I would never understand.
You might wonder then why the heck did I even bother reading it in the first place? well because Jay Kristoff never fails me, and my final star rating proves that.
If you like great sci-fi books, then yes, you would enjoy this immensely from the start, I just personally do not have the sufficient imagination to picture this world and constantly build upon it.
Which is EXACTLY why I felt this book was a bit of a slow read to me. That world building was great but packed. so much to take in of something that I cannot really imagine well enough. it constantly grew, ever so slightly, but I appreciate that as well. I tend to get bored when there is little to no world building at all.
The characters were everything you would want of characters to be, all sorts of personalities, yet not very stupid. I liked how mostly reading what Eve would do, I thought I would do the same, and that is rare since most characters tend to be a bit more stupid. I definitely loved the friendship between Lemon, Eve and cricket. Crick could be my favorite, though a "little" robot ((this cracked me up every time)) {hint: read through to understand the joke}, he made so much sense. In real life though, I am mostly cricket, I just say what no one wants said, and what most would like not to think about, so reading through a character that is sounding my inner thoughts and comments is great.
NOW, that all was where I was thinking between 4 and 4.5 rating, I started leaning toward the latter the more I read. the whole book felt like a climax, well not entirely, but there were several "OMG THIS IS IT" moments, where you get surprised as you continue to get hit by another.
NOW WHAT made THE jump to a full star rating was the ending.
Let me tell you something. it is realllyyyy hard to change my opinion, and even harder to surprise me. like there was one instant in the book, something that is plotted to make us believe something about EVE (I'm avoiding spoilers here), I felt it was not really the case, how, I wouldn't even know. about half the book ( or further even) , we realize that BOOM, I was right, it was not EVE who did that thing.
HOWEVER, THAAAATTT PLOTTT TWIST!!! liiiiike BOOOIII.. I loove it, I appreciate it, I never expected it, and OMG can we not talk about the ending. like a tragic ending, I mean ok, I can take that, a happy ending, meh, butttt thiiiisss, I did not know what to feel. like WHAAATT!! NOOO!!
Kristoff is naturally VERYYY Talented, he takes a good story and turns it into a great one with the way he plots it, and with his writing style. ALL in all, READ IT because the ending is worth it.

Okay finished this and this was such a pleasant surprise. I abhor Jay Kristoff writing like his slangs suck but man the twists were so good and the last part had me hooked.
Like the man can write some good twists and action scenes were pretty okay but man is his writing bad like so bad. Still a very high 3.5 ⭐️ and definitely continuing with the series just for this twists
