It was cute. Wish it had a bit more of an ending.

A bit of a weird premise, but it is cute in its own way and the quirkiness is somewhat charming at times. A slice of life collection, so no story per say and so no resolution which was a bit unsatisfying.

Eh alright. It’s a slice of life comedy comic so I didn’t expect an interesting story or character development which is fine BUT I didn’t really enjoy this besides being a turn your brain read.

I think the jokes are alright. Not laugh out loud but there were so good gags. Every chapter is basicallly just setup for a punch line, so it’s not like a story driven comic at all. Though there is some continuity. But I didn’t like how the chapters just kinda end. Like oh okay that’s it? Alright. Like there’s this character Jean who get introduced and that chapter ends with Olive being weirded out by him. And that’s it. I don’t know what that character’s deal was, he seemed to be there for a romance plot? But that never happens Olive just considers it briefly. It’s odd idk why they put him in. Things just happen in this comic. It feels more like a Sunday newspaper comic. Like Garfield but if he was a catboy.

It just bugged me like why did Henry suddenly turn into a catboy? Why does no one care? They just act like he’s a big cat. THE CAT TALKS WHY IS NO ONE FREAKING OUT? The first chapter makes it clear this is just gonna be a gag comic so I knew I was never gonna get an explanation. The comic really avoids being anything besides a gag comic at all times. Which is fine again but it makes it feel bland because the crazy concept isn’t explained. Why does any of this happen?

I didn’t like the characters beside Henry. And there’s not really any side characters if they do they barely show up so you’re kinda just stuck with Henry and Olive. Olive is just boring. I like that she’s a struggling art school graduate but over than that, her wardrobe is more interesting than her.

Speaking of! Best part of the comic easily. The fashion! I love the fashion so much. The art is pretty simple cute and does it’s job to tell a story but the clothes are so well designed.

All in all. If you want something that’s turn your brain off with cute art this is good! But if you want a bit more substance you probably still will like this but the writing will annoy you.

I can honestly say I am disappointed. I have been looking forward to reading this for a long time. Finally have a chance, and this was underwhelming. Given the blurb I had thought this would be a cute book about a girl and her cat who turned big and can talk/do human stuff and them connecting. Instead I wasn't too big of a fan of either character, especially the cat-thing was just aggravating. I was thinking that since he became what he did he would be less cat, instead throughout the book (and the seemingly months that pass) the cat still doesn't seem to grasp basic human stuff (still murders everything small, pees in a litterbox, scratches coaches, cannot eat or drink anything other than sardines and pizza and water) though one thing he does best is getting money.
Also I wondered how Olive ever managed to have a freaking apartment. She barely can pay rent, she only has a bed in her house. Which just weirded me out. She is what? 18? 21? Old enough to at least do something.
The one thing I loved was the art and the fashion parts in between all the slice of life comics. That is why I am rating it 2 stars.

So funny and cute. I love the occasional "covers" that show off both characters in a cool new outfit
