So worth the wait

I loved this book. I had a feeling it would be something awesome when I read a two line review of it. And now, I can't stop crying. It's like a happy and sad cry. The kind where you are angry but happy.

If you love love and want to know what it truly feels like when you finally let your heart be truly free, then this book is for you. I can't say much else without giving it away but I do want a sequel and I simply cannot let go of the characters.

Maybe 3.5? (Remember, more realistic star ratings coming to Goodreads in 2019, so I’m erring on the low side :)

I like YA novels, and I liked the style of this one. It was easy to read, relatable and I enjoyed the silliness interspersed throughout in the form of notes, 1-liners and random “exhibits”, just as you’d expect in a teen journal (even if they were ridiculously hard to read on my Kindle).

I also appreciated the twists and turns in the story that kept it from being TOO predictable (although it was still predictable).

I did not, however, love the romanticizing of teen sex, and it’s not a book I’d hand to a teen. Which stinks, because I was thinking MY teen would enjoy it right up until that point.

This book was very enjoyable.

I was able to finish it... That gives it 3 stars. It was finishable.

The book is generic YA contemporary romance, someone's sick, someone does something they always wanted to do, etc etc. The ending kind of ruined the whole book for me, in fact, the last third of the book goes in to the realm of "REALLY?!" very quickly.

I may just have reached the period of adulthood where I read about these girls and think "You go to your room young lady, this is not appropriate behaviour!"

At least there's other genres that don't irk me so much.

The ending was everything I had been hoping for! Such a good read.

Loved this book! Great read for everyone

2025: 4.0
slow-paced

I had to force myself to go to sleep last night. And even then, all I wanted to do was pull my Kindle back up and finish the book. I requested this book for two reasons. First reason, the cover. I am kind of shallow when it comes to books...I do tend to judge them by their covers. But I mean, LOOK AT HOW GORGEOUS AND EYE CATCHING IT IS! Second reason, the summary. It looked like it was promising and I liked that it was different than some of the other books I have been reading lately. Overall, I am SO satisfied with this book. And so happy I was chosen to read it before it came out.

I instantly fell in love with Maddy and the story line. It was so different and so refreshing that I just instantly dove into the book without looking back. Nicole Yoon did a brilliant job on this and when she writes another book, I will be the first in line to get my hands on it. Everything, Everything had my emotions all over the place. I would laugh. I would cry. I was angry, joyful, scared, and in love. I couldn't get enough of Maddy and Olly. From the very first page, actually, the very first paragraph, I was hooked on this book!

"I've read many more books than you. It doesn't matter how many you've read. I've read more. Believe me. I've had the time."

There are so many underlying messages that you are given in this book. "Life is a gift" or "Love can't kill you". Maddy is willing to risk a lot just so she can live and love. If you're going through a rough patch in life and need a pick me up, I suggest you read this book. Not only will you fall in love with the characters, but it may even open your eyes to things you never even knew possible.

The book does take a turn and will leave you reeling for a bit while you find your way back to the surface. All I can say is that people do what they do for reasons; some are beyond our understanding. People tend to amaze us every day. (Or stun us, whichever you may prefer.)

Thank Nicole Yoon for writing this book. If I could meet you I would give you the biggest hug in the world. READ THIS BOOK PEOPLE! :)

I liked the direction the ending took. No matter how mad she became, the mom's actions were messed up beyond forgiveness
