The only truly enjoyable parts was the chess. MC was so emotionally stunted with many decisions made for plot. I also didn't understand why ML would fall so deeply in love with her considering all he know of her was chess and all she did for him was beat him in chess.

*I borrowed this book from the library and listened to it.

Mallory Greenleaf was a very good chess player until her father died when she was 14, at which time, she just quit playing. Fast forward 4 years and her best friend asks her to play in a tournament. She defeats the world champion chess player, Nolan Sawyer - handily and then leaves.

Mallory is then offered a one year scholarship to a prominent New York chess club. Ultimately, Mallory accepts the scholarship, starts playing chess again.

This was a charming book, with a believable storyline.  I enjoyed it.
