This was a book that got me out of a reading slump back in 2016. I loved the development of the two sisters. It was packed with beautiful writing and an heart-wrenching plotline that goes back and forth in time. The plot twist was not expected and was a tear-jerker.

I know they can’t all have a happy ending but I was absolutely devastated by a particular major character’s ending and I felt like it was an injustice to the story as a whole 😞

This WW2 historical fiction was SO moving. This has two timelines - one where an unnamed older FMC is in the present (1995) and another looking back at the past. The latter being the majority of the book. The Nightingale focuses on family (including found), love, resistance, and survival. It is truly such a beautiful book and there isn’t anything I can say to do it justice. Just read it, and be prepared for extreme emotional damage.
