I came into this book with a lot of hype surrounding it- and my copy was a gift from my mom who told me she knew I would love it. And I did! The story is epic and heartbreaking. It stayed with me and I don't know how to even explain it without spoiling the beauty. My one complaint was that there were sections that dragged on a bit, but I still loved reading this novel.

So incredibly well written. My grandfather fought in World War II, so I have long been interested in learning more about it. This novel told such a beautiful story of two incredible women and how they fought back when their small French town was invaded by the Germans. I highly recommend this one. It will blow you away right up to the very last page.

Definitely didn’t live up to the hype, although it was a great story. Mediocre writing, flat supporting characters, and pacing hindered by a plot packed with events.

4.5 stars* Good Lord, this one made me cry a lot. A beautiful portrayal of the different types of courage that women display in war. What badasses.
