Slow burn. Mental health and toxic family are heavily discussed in this book. Book 2 in the Romey University series. (Professors not students).
Enjoyed this story about Professor London and her photographer Jovanni.
Lots of laughs. Some spice but mostly fade to black. Not my personal fav but the story itself compensates for that.
All in all a good listen.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story from the onset. Very well narrated and written.

I always enjoy reading books by Alexandria and this one didn't disappoint. I also love cameos from characters in the McClain Brothers series. Love me some Unc!

Such a well rounded Romance.

Key points I loved:
Strong female lead
Black man seeking healing and mental health
Black love through rose colored lenses (just ah chefs kiss)
Steamy s*x scenes, most initiated by female (LOVE)

Its a quick read with a beautiful magical element to it as well.
A fave of the month and this year.

I really liked this & continue to enjoy the male narrator. We meet Sharla in her classroom on the fictional HBCU campus of Romey University. Jovani is the new Artist in Residence on campus. it turns out that Sharla has been dreaming about him long before they met. Jovani's father is famous & lives in the town that Romey is in. They both have had different types of childhood trauma. Jovani's causes him to suffer from anxiety & sleep paralysis. I think that the author does a great job of explaining Jovani's experience with both. Sharla has the gift of sight where she dreams things and they actually happen. It is a gift that she thinks is a curse but learns later on the book that it is not.

Just not my style of book. I was hoping for a little more interaction between the main characters outside of then sleeping together. DNF 2 hours into the audiobook.

This one has some themes that I didn’t care for such as a character that had premonitions etc.
It was okay
