I finished this last month and I truly fell in love with it. I loved the characters, I loved the story, I loved the deep analysis of the games they were making, and so much more. Wildly enough, reading this book helped me gain a greater appreciation for video games and the deeper meanings behind some of them. I got back into playing Stardew Valley because of how they discussed Maple World within the book. I've noticed a lot of little things within the game and it makes me so giddy. This is definitely my favorite book of the year so far

I never in a million years would have guessed I would like a book that centers around video games so much, but this novel is so unflinchingly human you can’t help to be sucked right in. Everyone and everything felt so real. The occasional glimpse of the future or past kept you hooked.
The only part I did not care for wasPioneers, where the chapter follows the game character, but I admit it was a more clever way of showing the betrayal Sadie felt instead of having it play out in real life.
Even the waythey grow apart but still have love for one another after choosing different paths is relatable. I feel everyone has experienced that in some way, shape, or form. Beautiful and brilliant work.
