I have to say I was a bit disappointed with this one, it didn’t really read the same for me as the previous 4 books and felt it lacked the depth the others oozed. It seemed like it was almost setting up more points for Releasing 10, with Lizzie and Hugh.

I can't deal with this😭

3.5/5

I was debating between rating this book 3 or 4 stars, but ended with 3 because I don’t see myself reading this again/recommending this book to anyone.

I did think it was better than Keeping 13 (book 2), but not by much. I have a lot of opinions about this book, but basically I think the author lost the plot. I was excited for Claire and Gibsie’s book since the first book in the series, but this was a major let down.

Someone else wrote in their review for this book that this didn’t feel like Claire and Gibsie’s book, it felt like a 450 page prologue to set up the next book (releasing 10) which features a different set of characters. I could not agree more, I felt the same way reading this!!

Overall, there were things that were done well and things that were handled horribly. This was in no way satisfying for any Claire or Gibsie lover.

The rollercoaster ride continues… thankfully the ride ends with the next book because I am getting whiplash from this series.

I always wondered if there was something underneath Gibsie’s outrageously positive personality but I was not expecting what came out in this book.

The raw, unwavering love Claire and Gibsie have for each other is something else entirely and I loved every bit of their story. And the way Claire defends him is incredible!
