Overall good, though i'm a little displeased on how two characters meet their ends in this book.
adventurous sad tense medium-paced

Is it 2,5 or 3? I'm not sure. Well.... That was the end of the ride. Still for this one, it reads very fast and you kinda like all the characters up until that point, except maybe one. The ending was not very good and towards the end I was skim-reading.

Spoilers:
But like WHY did you have to go and kill Sara and Iago? They were my favourite since the beginning... I did like the way it happened though, because it was so fast, like how it would have really happened if Endgame was a thing.

We also got to see this new character friend of Chioko, honestly it was like she didn't exist. Like what was the point of her being there?

Ashling on the other hand could've had an amazing storyline but guess what. Nothing. Just nothing. Kepler abducts her and what happened? Nothing. Which brings me to Kepler...

So we got to read from the perspective of an alien. In the beginning it seemed so intimidating, but after it's POV it could be just a guy who has no idea what's going on or what to do. Honestly it's even funny how unable to do anything this alien is. Also we have a storyline with some people that aliens turn bad and they
.... destroy stuff? I guess? We never really got to see that, it was like the authors thought of a plotline but then didn't exactly know how to execute it.

In fact the whole ending was like that, like it starts good, but after a point it seems like not even they knew what was gonna happen and I think that's why it was disappointing.

The Endgame series..
This will be a review for the whole series, spoiler free.
The 4 stars here isn't for the whole series. That I'd give little but 2,5 stars.

The first book started of slow and confusing, but that was to be expected with 12 main characters to get to know. But when the story finally picks up you're left with a hunger for the next book.
The second book was the worst one in the series. My excitement left from the first book was quickly washed away after the first 3 chapters. It completely lost the pace of the first book and I was back in a slow confusing mess.
One main flaw that came to the light with this second book was:
Too many people!
Not only do you now have chapters from the contestants, you'll also have chapters from random people. I might have given up mentally on this series when they threw in a chapter from the pov of a drone.
When I finally finished this horrible book I was planning to just forget about this series, but the story still had me hooked. I wanted to know how it ended.
So after a couple of months I picked up the last book, only because I saw it in my local library. And finally I was back in the flow of the ending of the first book. This was the thinnest book of the series and also the best. The pace was higher, no more weird chapters of random people. Just action!

But why was this series such a flop for me? It depended to much on its action, without it, it was nothing. There is too little depth in the characters to really feel an emotional bond with them. The writing style is very simple, nothing special or deep. So when the action lacked there was nothing interesting left but a confusing information dump to a plot that doesn't really make any sense.
If the whole series would've all been written more as the last book it would've been better.

Would I recommend this? No. There are better series/books in this genre, though I have to give it some credit for still keeping me hooked.

I've just found this secret dialog between the authors.
"I think there are too many players left alive."
"Okay, I'll write some quick, unsatisfying deaths for a couple more of them."
"And whatever happened to those other keplers?"
"Lalalala...I can't hear you!"
"Should we describe what happened to the east coast of North America?"
"Nah, the book's long enough. Just a vague hint, then wrap it up."
"Are we going to actually explain ANYTHING?"
"No. I just wrote this because teen dystopian fiction is a gold mine and I wanted people to forget about that memoir where I totally lied about my life."
"Oh."
