H. D. Carlton has done it again. This book had me in such a choke hold and I just could not put it down. This is hands down the darkest, yet spiciest book I have ever read, emphasis on dark. I highly recommend reading reviews and really taking into consideration the warnings the author provide for this book because it is VERY dark and covers extremely sensitive topics. Don’t just read this book because you saw it on TicTok, it is not for everyone and that’s okay. <Spoilers Ahead>Read this book because you love the cat and mouse and how Addies love grows for Z, yet Z’s unrelenting, obsessed love has been there from the very beginning. Read this book because you have an open mind and are okay reading hard things that make you reflect on this dark world. Read this book because it will make you feel things you haven’t felt in a long time. Weakness, hopefulness, pride, anguish, heart break, lust, love, excitement, toe curling joy, anger, resentment. Read this book for a happy ending that you never thought possible when you first started reading this series. And please read Satan’s Affair! I read it before the reading the first book but to be honest you can read it before the second book as well. I love Sibby and Satan’s Affair offers a deeper look into her life which was interesting to say the least! Overall amazing writing and such a captivating story! There were some parts I wish were different (such as the ending of Claire, Rocco, Xavier, and Francesca, I thought their deaths would be more drawn out and filled with torture) but I love that this book kept you on your toes, fills the story line with an amazing plot, gives you characters you form a trauma bond with, and includes so, so much spice. 🌶️🥰

Take the trigger warnings VERY seriously. The first half of this book is extremely difficult to read. Addie has been kidnapped to be trafficked and there are some very violent rape and torture scenes.

The second half of the book focuses on her "taking back her power" and seeking revenge.
During this  half of the book, they set out to take revenge on everyone involved in Addie's kidnapping and there are a lot of gory and violent scenes. There are also a lot of graphic rough sex scenes (ex. She is strapped to a tree by a belt around her neck). A lot of this was just so far beyond believable (ex. Now she has a knife kink?).

I feel like this was way too long, probably could have been like 200 pages shorter. I think she tried to show the realities of sex trafficking, but it got to the point where it seemed that many of these scenes were added for shock value. In the last 20-30% of the book, it seemed like she was throwing in a bunch of pointless scenes to drag out the ending. I liked that she brought back Sibby!

This was a really fucked up book and I have never ever read anything like it. I could not for the life of me put this book down. I absolutely loved the sex even though it was weird and kinky and hella dark. The reason I didn't give it a 5-star read was that I became invested in the great-grandmother's plot and I felt that it was rushed and didn't get its spotlight if you get me.

The intensity of her stalker was just like poooow mindblown... the gun scene??? The belt scene???? The wardrobe scene???? like there were so many fucked up scenes in this book and I ate that shit up.

I Ate Zade up too because that man knows his fucking stuff. Like you don't tell him twice

I don't know what is wrong with me but I kinda liked the book and its darkness, it was definitely something new and I loved that

Still, don't know if any of it was consensual...

Beware the trigger warnings.
I kinda skimmed the warning page and I was surprised and a little knocked back when the warned things happened first. Incredibly dark, not shying away from the ruthless details to make a realistic story. Addie's struggles were easily felt when I read it, I found myself truly capturing her emotions the whole way through. When she felt weak, or hopeless, I did. When she was strong I felt strong too. It was an emotional, brutal book but I'm so glad I read it, it was something that made me look up at the world I am in.

Had me in the first half ngl

After the 60% mark it just gets unhinged, story stops existing and it’s just pure sex - which is fine, but bro I was enjoying the story so much

Spice is spicier than a ghost chilli, story was great until it wasn’t, pretty decent easy to binge book

*DO NOT READ THIS BOOK IF YOU CANNOT HANDLE THE TWs*

This was a hard one to read, at least for the first half. Reading the trigger warnings, I knew what I was getting into, but it didn’t make it any easier. It’s taken me a couple of days to process this one to do a review, but here we are.

So Zane is as dangerous as they come and his pathway of destruction to get Addie back after her being taken at the end of the first book. Adeline’s growth during the book to becoming the survivor she is, was inspiring and heartbreaking. I’m thankful for how Zade went about approaching her and her healing, and didn’t push when he shouldn’t.

I’m thankful the duet ended with all the good vibes, I just with they took down the “ring leader” differently?? I felt like it was a bit anticlimactic or a bit rushed. But did they deserve to go out the way they did, 100%! And I’m glad Adeline became a part of the hunt.
*Also, the note in the mailbox at the end, just *chef’s kiss* 💋

Dark themes are found within this book, you’ve been warned:
🔪Abduction
🔪Rescue
🔪Blood Play
🔪Dual POV
