I remember enjoying book 1 and 2 so much but this? This was so disappointing. The ending is the biggest deus ex machina I've read in a long time. There were ideas. But the execution was severely lacking. Like the whole being stuck at 13 thing could have been so interesting if fleshed out more but it just led nowhere
Also, fuck Cameron. Grown ass man grooming teenage girls smh

I just wanted soo much more of part threeee.
I meaan, I got frustrated that Ari did the samee mistake of turning herself invisible and becoming a freaking victim.
But the resolution came soo fast that it didn't come up as legiit. I just needed so much more.

Just as dreamy and introspective as the first two books, the Ethical Vampire series is a quiet and satisfying one. I think this was my favorite so far and I look forward to any more that Hubbard provides.

The third book in the Ethical Vampire series. This series is one of the best new vampire series that I have read. I wouldn't consider this the best book in the series but it did have an interesting storyline.

Ari was 13 when she was turned now she is now in her 15th year although most of her friends believe she is 19 and attending University. How would you like to be trapped in the same body you had at 13 with the same brain function? Well Ari wasn't thrilled with the idea, so when she learns about a drug that can age her 7 years including brain function she is understandably intrigued. Of course what starts out as something innocent turns into something disastrous, leading Ari and her family on a roller coaster ride that leaves them in the middle of a political conspiracy with far reaching consequences.

There are a lot of great characters in this series. My favorite is of course Ari with the new character of Sloan running a close second, I'm hoping that Ms. Hubbard writes some more so we can learn more about these two great characters.

The pacing in Risks felt much better than in Disappearances. Ari steps deeper into vampire intrigue while dealing with complex feelings surrounding her inability to age and questions about her own future.

Spoiler:
SpoilerI was reading along, and in the second part, I thought, “Whoa, this is starting to sound like a teenybopper vampire novel.” I never suspected that it was a duppy instead of Ari. I'll be a bit suspicious of everything in this series from now on. Hubbard is a very skilled writer.

Like the other books in this series, I couldn’t put it down.

Ari Montero's life is better than ever. She has her family; mom and dad are together at last. She has her friends; Dashay and Jacey are the best girlfriends any girl could ever have. And she has love in her life; Cameron makes her feel like she has never felt before. But, is it love? Ari will have to figure this out and fast, because she can't be with Cameron, not until she is at least 22 years of age. What is a girl to do? Growing up in a matter of months is impossible... or is it?

If you have read this far, read The Society of S and The Year of disappearances, then I don't have to warn you about any of the "downfalls" of the book that may bother some people; Not very action driven though it has a bit of action, but more intellectually driven. This for me does not pose a problem, but some people won't stand it after a few pages.

You have been warned...

With twists and turns I wouldn't have expected, The season of Risks surpasses it's previous installments in just about everything! Character development, themes, questions, answers, danger, love, success, failure, all of this and more written in a beautiful and curious POV.

There is no reason not to give this series a try. It's vampire literature! This book is not just for entertainment, though it achieves to entertain, but it also manages to make you think about things you may not have thought of before. It also makes you want to go out and discover parts of yourself that you may not have dare to pursue in other circumstances.

The book is also a lot of fun. We get introduced to new characters, and manage to revisit some old friends. The new characters were a delight, the old friend I would have rather left behind. If measured on a scale more things happened that I did not expect than things I did expect. The surprises were original and creative. And what I call the background plot is getting juicer by the second, a bomb which is about to explode.

Two thumbs up!!!

PS; Third book in the series The Ethical Vampire novels. If you haven't even heard about this series I recommend you to pick up The Society of S, and then The Year of Disappearances.
