such a great fast read. perfect amount of spice. absolutely loved that there was no unnecessary drama between the fmc and mmc.
I am sad that I am at the end of the Calamity Montana series - though I've had mixed feelings about the last couple books. This book is no exception to my mixed review.
At its heart, it was an enjoyable romance with a good balance of sweet and angst and romantic tension. I love a good brother's best friend/forced proximity romance, and this book nails those themes.
But at the end, my lower rating is just because I wasn't convinced the main couple actually would last once the initial "honeymoon" phase of the relationship wore off. Wilder discusses his deceased wife (please romance authors, give some justice to first wives) and how they were opposites. I just wasn't convinced Iris wasn't bad for him in the same way - that beyond the attraction, they would eventually annoy each other. Their chemistry was constantly talked about but I didn't really see it. There was also several moments where Wilder took what could be a thoughtful or protective moment and turned it into a red flag (for me) with his abruptness or rudeness. Like he just wasn't quite the MMC for me. I did appreciate how he loved Iris for who she was and never (rarely) asked her to change who she was.
So goodbye Calamity, Montana. It's been a fun month of audiobooks.

This was a sweet story but where was the rest of the calamity MT gang 😫 i finally decided I liked everyone and we barely get anything from Lark or Lucy.
Anyway, travel influencer Iris visits Calamity MT & stays with her brother’s best friend Wilder, widower and high school science teacher. They both are super into each other, and there’s an overheard solo session on both sides before they decide to go for it.
This is the second widower romance I’ve read and again, the mourning widower moniker doesn’t really fit.He did lose his wife to a fatal car crash, but he had asked her for a divorce the same day she died, so he’s not grieving as much as previously thought, but more feeling guilty .
Overall a little boring story but ok.
