I liked the FMC, but the MMC really did NOT work for me. Zero growth. Just an ass from start to finish. Blech. Zero story for the romance portion.

God bless Devney Perry for getting me out of my reading slump. I couldn’t find anything that hooked me until I remembered I hadn’t read this one… and proceeded to devour it in just a few hours.

Good, but not great. There are other Devney Perry books and series that I prefer over this one

Regardless of my best efforts to avoid disliking this book, I couldn't comprehend the dull and conflicting feeling I experienced while reading it. Forced proximity, brother's best friend, age gap, and grumpy xsunshine should all be a perfect combination for romance novels, but this book fell far short of my expectations.

Despite its lack of narrative, this novel still enjoyable. I kinda admire Iris's baddass and boldness's characters. Wilder on the other hand, didn't really do it for me unfortunately. They were horny and resisting one another, and suddenly they were passionate and only had sex to connect. I simply hoped they would have more chemistry and banter, get closer as individuals, or fall in love. I also found the writing style of the side plot to be disappointing. The conclusion seemed hurried and overly forced. And unfortunately, the epiloge did not make up for it. Likewise, I would like to thank Ava Erickson and Ryan Hudson for voicing this book. I liked how great they portrayed the characters and described them so well that I didn't lose interest in the book because of the flat plot.

All things considered, I thoroughly enjoyed binge-reading this series. Every pair's interactions and banter were distinct in their own ways. Even though there aren't found family to be presents, there is still a sense of it. This series is worth a try if you're searching for a small-town romance with easy banter between each couple! ❤️‍🔥💥
