I’m glad we finally got to give Owein the spotlight he deserved.

I did not realize that this was a series not a trilogy and boy am I happy. I could spend endless hours with Hulda, Merritt and Owein. These stories are cozy fantasy adventures with interesting magic, a touch of chaste romance and wonderful characters to bring smiles to my face.
Giving Owein his own story was perfectly timed for the Whimbrel House series. His character had a lot to unpack in this book.
I’m so excited by Holmberg’s writing I’m trying another series while I wait for book 4.

Kind of felt unnecessary, but understand why this book had to happen because we couldn’t let everyone else have a happy ending but the child.
3.5 rounded up to 4 - a little slow sometimes, but moreso in a cozy way rather than a boring one. a lovely, warm conclusion to this series :-)

This book was my least favorite in the series so far, mostly because not much happens? This book has that feel that often books 2 of a trilogy have - mostly setup for the next book.
The antagonist of this book is nowhere near as compelling or terrifying as Silas, and the resolution of the whodunit felt a bit anticlimactic. Like, lady, justsay you don't want to marry Owein, stop trying to kill people!
The attempted wrenches that kept getting thrown at Merrill and Hulda's relationship were kind of dumb, and the oneDruid lady was so OTT . Also, all these people that are like, "Sure, you're engaged and you say you're in love, but, hey, you shouldn't care about all that because I, apparently, don't, and I think we'd make good babies." Like, back all the way the fuck up.
I did enjoy spending some time with Merrill and Hulda and Owein - especially Owein. We got a lot more of his perspective in this book than I think we have in the past, and I can definitely see why he would enjoy spending time with the Druids.
Even thewedding at the end felt a little bit anti-climactic, though it was nice to see them finally get together!
I am still looking forward to the next in the series, but I'm also kind of hoping it's the last, because I'd rather the series be wrapped up well then have more filler books.
