i think alec’s character development was really, really well done, but the end of this dragged on. it could have stopped after chapter 13.

The world of this series can be pretty bleak, especially for women, and it’s even more pronounced in this book. The early rejection is really rough and hard to read, but like in every other book, it then shifts to showing Flora growing stronger in herself, and Alec is redeemed well. All the same, the tone stays pretty heavy for much of the book. It suits the story, but the ending comes quickly and I would’ve liked to see the happy ending expanded a bit.

Flora and Alec’s story
Flora is mistreated by her pack because of her weight. Alec is too in his own head to realize that even though he desires her that she and the pack think she’s disgusting. After Alec fucks things up a bit he spends the whole book groveling and trying to figure out why he puts his foot in his mouth all the time and how if he uses empathy and pays a bit more attention he can avoid that.

one question I just thought of is why was Alec such a selfish lover in high school. Like I get he couldn’t kiss her because then he would bite her and “betray his future mate”  but that doesn’t mean that he can’t go down on her! What? Only he gets an orgasm unless she does it herself?

Usually I dislike the whole miscommunication trope but the way this book handled it was perfect. When it’s done bad the miscommunication trope happens because the characters are dumb and making bad choices for plot reasons. Which is just frustrating. It makes you want to strangle them. In His Curvy Rejected Mate the miscommunication happens because the characters are quiet (because the rest of the pack is so loud) and are making bad choices for character reasons. It’s still a little frustrating but in a I just wanna give them a solid flick on the forehead type of way. Can’t wait for more books in the series!
I want to know what Tandie’s deal is. Right now Leith seems kinda like an unredeemable asshole cause of the way he treats Flora. Is he the one making Tandie cover her facial birth mark? If so then screw him!
