Volume 3 focuses on the Marvel Outlawed event, where after a disastrous mission all teen heroes are outlawed and Kamala is caught in the middle of it. It’s well-written but I’m so tired of these events that are reminiscent of civil war 😩 We get it! The government doesn’t like superheroes! Please stop reusing the same plot 😩 Unfortunately The Magnificent Ms. Marvel was canceled so the series ended with this event. Which is a shame because this creative team was excellent and I loved how they introduced so many new elements to Kamala’s world while maintaining the feel from Wilson’s run. It felt like Ms. Marvel had levelled up in every way and I loved it. I wish we could have had more Ms. Marvel from this team.

The best part about volume 3 is the introduction of a hero called Amulet aka Fadi Fadlalah! He’s a new original character created by Saladin Ahmed & Sara Alfageeh. In his few appearances he brought so much joy to the story and was a welcome addition to Kamala’s world.

While volume 3 as a whole is unsatisfying, the final issue does what Ms. Marvel comics do best, celebrate our hero and her friends. The brown girl superhero of my dreams made it to 75 issues, and that is definitely worth celebrating 🥳 ⚡️

I'll talk more about the Outlawed plot in my Champions review. For this one, I'm just incredibly sad to see this series go. Ahmed did a wonderful job with Kamala's story, and I would have loved to have so much more.

The single-issue wrap up was interesting and sweet. Glad it ended on a hopeful note.

ALSO I LOVE AMULET GIVE HIM A SERIES NOWWWWW

It's really a shame that Marvel canceled Ms. Marvel and evidently didn't tell Ahmed until very late in the process. What should have been a great, epic send off for one of Marvel's best, groundbreaking characters falls flat because Ahmed was given absolutely no time to really dig into the ideas he brought to the series. There are a lot of really great ideas presented here, but because everything needs to be wrapped up, the writing for them is shallow and unsatisfying (which is not Ahmed's fault, at all. He did the best with what time he had left.)

Honestly, shame on Marvel for this. What a disgrace.
