The beginning is an uphill climb, especially if you haven’t read Fangirl (like me). It’s so soft and tender, the world develops beautifully and is fleshed out, and it just feels so warm and gentle. There’s enough action to keep the fantasy aspect alive and the slight enemies to lovers trope that I love.

Adorable story, loved the characters but I wish there was more of a plot. Couldn’t fully get into this book but I know some people really love it.

A pesar de que no me gustó Fangirl, si los libros que Cath escribió eran como Carry On entiendo su obsesión con seguir escribiendo y estar en el mundo de fanfic.

Este libro me lo zampé en un día, no tiene gran cosa más que ser un fanfic Drarry pero con algunas diferencias (no muchas). Me gusta mucho el enemies to lovers porque nunca fueron enemies y siempre fueron lovers pero son todos unos tontos. Que divertido es.

El mayor problema del libro es que el mundo mágico está fatal construído, te explican una mierda sobre la historia de los personajes y tienes la sensación de que llegas a mitad de la película cuando empiezas a leer. Pero oye que es sensillito y tranquilito.

There was even more to enjoy in this gem of a book on a reread. With [b:Fangirl|16068905|Fangirl|Rainbow Rowell|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1355886270l/16068905._SX50_.jpg|21861351] a tad further from my mind (albeit always close to my heart!), it was easier to read as a its own self contained story rather than merely an ambitious, deeply meta experiment.

Even through that lens, of course, this is an intentionally meta book, with the primary plot tension coming from how it subverts or fulfills our expectations of the familiar “Chosen One” story.

It’s a high degree of difficultly, introducing the reader at the narrative equivalent of the 7th season of "Buffy" or the 7th book of Harry Potter, but Rainbow Rowell manages to pull it off with her signature mix of quippy dialogue, heartfelt emotional beats, and deeply charming characters. That surplus of charm more than make up for the quibble here and there I had about the pacing.

I feel like this book was an amazing alternative universe Harry Potter fan fiction, complete with boy romance, angst, humor, and swear words. I loved all of the characters and the plot was compelling. Highly recommend!
