Okay, so for most of the book I thought this was going to be a solid 4 stars, but then that ending happened and JUST NO. Like WHY? YOU CANNOT KILL BOTH MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS OFF LIKE THAT!!!!! YOU JUST CAN'T! ARGH! *screams forever* So...it gets 3.5 stars. That may be unfair of me, but WHATEVER. I'M ANGRY.

(although Resa and Mo are my ultimate OTP and agghhhhh I love them too much. plus the whole thing with the bluejay i loved it k?)

Cornelia continued to impress me with this sequel and I continued to love the story of Inkheart. I felt that she expanded upon the storyline enough to make it feel new while still feeling true to the story and characters that we were introduced to in the first book.

I absolutely love a good story with in a story. I'm glad that I'm finally continuing and finishing the trilogy. I absolutely loved this story almost as much as the first one. While it is still following a story with in a story the story starts to write itself differently than how it was originally written and I really enjoyed that aspect. There are some parts that were a little slower than others and some that were more fast paced. I enjoy all the detail that Cornelia Funke has provided us with and you can imagine what the Wayless Woods and Castle of Night look like as you're reading.

While I don't agree with Dustfinger giving up his life to save Farid after finally being reunited with Roxanne and his family I understand what it added to the story and how even though Dustfinger didn't want to admit it he had grown fond of Farid.

Inkspell, comparative to Inkheart, is a lot... messier of a book. The plot is everywhere, point of views change so often it's dizzying, characters and introduced and forgotten, some are cruel without reason ROXANNE.
The way she treated Farid was horrible. He's a boy, not much older than Meggie (who is thirteen!!!) And she's like 'you harbringer of bad luck you're the reason he's dead'. How disgusting. It's obvious that Dustfinger loves Farid dearly, and for her to treat Farid like that, a young boy who follows him around like a puppy, makes me hate her.
The best part of this book for me, by far, was Brendan Frasier's performance. His Elinor voice was... grating to say the least, but all of his other characters were dynamic and varied and fun. Brendan Frasier was the high point of this book.

What a fantastic sequel to an excellent book. I loved diving into the world of Inkheart and all of the characters there. It was a great exploration of narrative and story, and a really fun read.
