This book was so much fun that when I finished it I had to go look up the author's backlist! I so enjoyed the characters Camille Pagan created in this novel, as well as their love and humor and friendship. This is a book that left me wanting to text my best friend, have coffee with my mom, and snuggle up to my husband on the couch. It also made me want to take a trip to Paris and eat. And it's another "found family" book, and those are my favorites! If you're looking for a "feel good" read, this is it.

⁣This Won’t End Well is a delight! I’m a huge Camille Pagan fan and always enjoy her books - they are SO MUCH FUN.⁣

Poor Annie. She was recently fired from her Chemist job, her fiancé has jetted off to Paris to “find himself”, and her relationship with her best friend is on the rocks.⁣

So she decides to start cleaning houses and just ignore all humans. But curiosity gets the better of her when a glamourous but mysterious new neighbor moves in next door and finds a strange man lurking in her bushes. Could Annie be in danger? Or is her biggest danger letting people back into her life and finally taking the reigns of how she plans to live it?⁣

Told through email, journal entires, and texts, this book is such a joy to read! Annie is quirky and witty and the human interactions are relatable, warm, and sweet. There are more laugh out loud moments than I could count, and it’s a fast paced breath of fresh air!⁣

I loved the characters but I felt like the story should have been focused on the shenanigans of Anne and Moe trying to take down her old boss. No one cares about her French speaking fiancé’s existential crisis.

Camille Pagan never disappoints. She's a go-to author for me, one of my top auto-buys. Her characters are charming and endearing and her stories fresh and full of wit. THIS WON'T END WELL was the perfect read for me, and with it's very real and right ending, I can't recommend the book enough.

I love a good epistolary novel and it was interesting to listen to one on audio! I really enjoyed the Michigan connection, too. Otherwise, this novel fell a little bit flat for me. I still want to go to Paris though.

Annie is having a stressful time in her life. Her fiancee suddenly announces he needs time to think and leaves for Paris for a month. He also asks Annie not to contact him while he's gone. Annie quits her job as a chemist and starts to clean houses because her HR rep does not believe Annie was sexually harassed by her boss. She's moved in with her mother to help her mother battle depression. Then some new people come into Annie's life and they help her rethink her situation.

This story in told via emails, journal entries, and a few text messages. The journal entries include conversations so it is a mix between a journal entry and traditional writing. I loved this style of writing. It tells the story completely from Annie's viewpoint and you can see what is going through her mind.

While Annie has sworn off new people, she meets her new neighbor and a private investigator. They both are vital to the story and help Annie see things in a different way. They take her on new adventures. I loved watching Annie grow throughout this book.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a strong character to root for. It is also great for the different writing style using primarily emails and journal entries.

Do you like epistolary novels? I was pleasantly surprised to learn This Won’t End Well is told through emails, community message board posts and diary entries. I listened to the audiobook which was a great way to take in the story.

This was a quick listen and I enjoyed the writing style and the wit a lot - found myself chuckling or nodding along more than once. However, the plot wasn’t quite there for me. I didn’t buy into the central conflict and felt things were wrapped up really quickly.

Thank you to Brilliance Audio for the opportunity to listen to an advance copy.

3.5 rounded up.
Fun and frothy, which is what I hope for from a Camille Pagán novel. I enjoyed her main character, and there were actually some turns that surprised me.
I finished the Audible version in a day.
