As with most essay collections, this one has some home runs and a few swings and misses from my perspective. I'm not a foodie so those that i found flat might be enjoyable to others. I did appreciate the wide net cast by the editor when it comes to topics, sources, and tone. The essays that interested me the most included: "The Gatekeepers Who Get to Decide What Food Is 'Disgusting'"; "Revolt of the Delivery Workers"; "the Man Who Didn't Invent Flamin' Hot Cheetos"; "After a Century of Dispossession, Black Farmers Are Fighting to Get Back to the Land"; and "It's Hospital Soigne."

I just love these collections. What constitutes "food writing" is such a fun, varied group of subjects. I leave each one having learned something new.
