Loved it. Some parts were a little slow. But I could still really appreciate them. This book felt more than a love story between two teens in Detroit. It was a love letter to black love and culture, to the music and style that uplifts the community through hardships. It's a reminder that self care is the WAY and part of growing up is making difficult decisions - and making those decisions that seem scary at first can still lead to a happy ending. Loved every page ❤️

This was such a great, timeless romance.
Danielle is a senior who is passionate about one day being an author and getting into NYU next year. She is strong and loves fiercely, focused and determined. Over the past summer, she experienced something traumatic that has changed her life since.
Prince is a senior with a passion for music and DJ-ing. He is a kind, caring, and compassionate person, but is feeling pulled in too many directions at once. When he’s not taking care of his mother with MS, his hyperactive little brother, or helping others with relationship problems on his radio segment each week, he is crushing hard on one girl - Danielle.
He convinces her to go on 3 dates with him - giving him 3 chances to prove to her that he’s worth her time. This book did a great job appreciating the teenage experience of identity confusion, the impact of trauma on a young person’s life, and the importance of Black culture and community in the two main characters lives.
This was beautifully written and had me looking up a ton of other media mentioned so I can binge some inspirations throughout this book (movies, books, and music). Ebony LaDelle created a love story that heals hearts and opens minds to possibilities and hopes.
This is a 4 star because of a few spots of heavy over explanation that did not flow with the rest of the story, but I would gladly recommend this to many a reader who loves classic love, pop culture elements, and some tears.

This was a beautiful love story. It gave me all the 2000s high school nostalgia vibes. I wish we had more Princes when I was in high school lol. I actually borrowed this book from my teenage daughter and I’m really glad I did. Now I need to buy my own copy.

This was a very cute story. I enjoyed the teenage live story. It was inspiring to read. Definitely a feel good book. It introduces some serious topics, but it's not a super dark book.
