4.5/5 - What a beautiful love letter to Detroit!! I know that city gets so much flack in general, but I enjoyed reading about its charm and character. Prince and Dani were the cutest. Now I will be honest, Prince came off too mature for his age, so it was hard for me to believe that was the type of advice he would give, but I love he wasn’t tainted by the red pill, incel community just yet. lol Dani’s character reminded me so much of Moesha from the tv show.

One thing that bothered me was the author’s use of “mines” instead of “mine”. I feel like that was on purpose, but it irked me to no end. Other than that, a beautiful story.

Loved this book so much. It definitely was emotional at parts, but overall I couldn’t help the cheesy smile that I would get every time the two main characters interacted. Their banter was cute, and I love the friends to lovers trope. Prince is a total sweetheart.

(3.5) I really like the book. I loved the depiction of healthy intimacy in black male friendships because I don’t think I see it talked about in books that often.

it's a solid 3.25 from me.
i liked it in parts, but in other parts it just dragged and i got bored.
i also feel like the side characters were more interesting to me than the main characters- would've loved a book from rashida's or ant's povs. actually, PLEASE write one from ant's or/and rashida's povs!! i used capital letters, i mean it.

thoughts while reading

How do I tell my dad, who grew up only understanding to pray the pain away, that prayer won't be enough?
💔

29%: poor prince having to do two hair days in a row 🧑🏾‍🦱🪮
30%: no that’s not okay. what he needed to do was grow the hell up instead of basically forcing his 9 year old son to
55%: bro is whipped 🥰
79%: 💔💔💔
97%: i would cry if my newly straightened hair got wet like that. kissing in the rain is so damn cute though
