I recently posted my review for We Set the Dark on Fire, which I thought was a wonderful f/f fantasy. So I was super excited to dive back into this world again and find out what was going to happen to the lovely leading ladies in Medio.

Set in a world where a family is made up a husband and 2 wives (Primera and Segunda), Dani becomes the Primera to the son of the most high powered man in Medio. The segunda is a girl named Carmen. The pair form an unlikely bond. Following the events of the first novel, We Unleash the Merciless Storm continues but in Carmen’s point of view.

If there were one word I could use to describe this book it would be “yearning”. Carmen spends a lot of her time desperate to get back to Dani. It’s so romantic and made my heart burst.

I devoured this in a few hours, but it wasn't as good as the first book. It is told from Carmen's POV, but I found myself missing Dani.

This book was amazing and honestly a great end to this duology.

This book follows Carmen after the events of We Set The Dark on Fire and we get to see a lot more of La Voz, which I was so happy about because after reading about them in the first book I knew I wanted to read more about the people in this group and how they live.

It took me a while to get used to the idea of Carmen being our main protagonist in this book. Having only recently read the first book in this duology I had gotten used to Dani being the voice of this story and I had become emotionally attached to her.

However this feeling did not last long. It was so refreshing to hear the story being told from a different perspective and how she had to deal with the aftermath of We Set The Dark On Fire.Carmen is a strong character who fights for what she believes in, no matter what implications they may have to La Voz who are the only family she's ever known. She's smart, she's feisty and I loved her character development in this book.

My only issue with the book is that I would have liked to have seen more at the end of the book. Without giving the story away, I just think the ending could have been expanded and we could have seen more of what had happened after the events took place.

Overall this is an action packed and intense end to this duology that had me hooked from the start. I'm so sad its over!

I read this book right after the first one, and although I really wanted to like this, it was just nice. It has a nice plot, nice turning points, super cute romance, but I hadn't me wrapped around its finger.

With that being said I really appreciated two things: the first one being the description Carmen gives of her love for Dani:
“[...] I thought I had enough, before, that I didn’t need more, but then she looked at me and it was like turning the lights on in a dark room.” [...] “And now everything seems smaller, and dimmer, and I can’t turn the lights back off.”
And second, I loved the #girlpower we had towards the end, it didn't feel forced like it usually is.

Finally, the scene where Dani sucks the poison out of Carmen's wound gave me such Twilight vibes!!

My heart is HAPPY

This is such a powerful book, yet manages to remain fun and romantic. I can’t fault it (other than I wanted it to be a trilogy - or go on forever
