My only complaint was that the world building wasn't the greatest.

Someone definitely needed to do a better job at editing this. I had to pause at the start of ch. 2 because I thought I missed a part. There was a part in ch. 15 where a piece of information is repeated, just in a slightly different way, literally one line away from where it was said the first time. Other places were a bit clunky and could have used a once over for clarity. It honestly reads like an a/b/o fanfic from wattpad circa early 2010s.
The concept isn’t bad. Overall I liked the storyline/plot.
The characters are a bit much at times and were frequently put in absurd situations that had me laughing out loud. The men are pretty sexist. They don’t really believe that women can protect themselves or really make decisions that are in the best interest. At least one of the mmcs has the self awareness to recognize how shitty he acts. Doesn’t really change his behavior though. I can appreciate a protective man but not at the same of the fmc’s autonomy. Nice thing about Sadie is that she doesn’t really give a shit.
The sexual tension in the beginning is a bit rough. But not unbearable. Overall not bad. Certain aspects are definitely slow burn. Others not so much.
I didn’t expect the ending which is nice.
Overall I can’t fault the book too much. The narrators did a good job and I was able to loose myself in the silliness of it all and just enjoy it for what it is.

I did enjoy the dark humour in this and for the most part, I did like the FMC Sadie. This book does suffer from “itty bitty tiny girl is so so small” syndrome but I guess it works here. It is integral to the plot and how she was treated growing up. I’m always a sucker for hidden scars, it just causes such sweet angst especially when they’re finally revealed to the MC’s “enemy” and they have to completely reevaluate their judgment of the MC.
I also liked the distinct personalities and the relationship dynamics between the three male leads. This is looking like a reverse harem where everybody is with everybody and I wholeheartedly approve.
Terrified to find out Cobra’s backstory, though
TW: child abuse, indentured servitude, misogyny, bullying, attempted rape of the FMC, sexual harassment, violence, so much blood, murder, torture, panic attacks, permanent injury, a brief sexual encounter between one of the MMCs and another woman, kidnapping, allusions to past sexual exploitation of an MMC, PTSD, dissociation, and way way more vomit than was probably necessary for the plot.

I listened to this all in one go and couldn't stop. It was fast-paced, the FMC was strong, and the MMC's are super grumpy. I won't get into the story with this review since I feel it's best to go in a bit blind to avoid spoilers, but if you enjoy this type of fantasy, jump in.
If you want to know what to expect, here is a little list
Multiple POVs
3 powerful MMC Alpha shapeshifters
A stubborn FMC that doesn't back down
They fall first (MMCs)
Orphan with unknown power
Abuse/Trauma with FMC and MMC
Anger Management Issues
Spicy MM and MF
Touch her and die
MINE
Prophecy
Deception
Spice (not a ton, but what is there might not be for those who don't like it)
I received the ALC from Netgalley and Harlequin Audio in exchange for an honest review. I can't wait for book 2 because it was left with one heck of a cliffhanger.
