I still don’t know how I feel about this one exactly but a fascinating look into a “Me Too” type scandal on a small liberal arts college campus in upstate New York. For all my Skidmore peeps out there - the author is a professor here so you can definitely feel the inspiration of Skidmore & Saratoga Springs (location not plot points of course!)

beautiful tone of voice, wish it had been used for something more entertaining. i did enjoy the occasional insight from the narrator.
nothing happens, essentially. a long, winded obsession that hardly feels like an obsession but instead, a passing interest. gets to a point where it feels like the story is dredging on. narrator is vain and i wish that’d been played up more than it was.

3.5 - This book was definitely more than I expected. Do not be fooled by the cover! Slow build in the first half and the second half really packs a punch and holds you in suspense. Probably intentionally, you only get in the protagonist’s head in this story which leads to some of the suspense and disbelief in parts.
