I seen Mads promote the book on her TikTok and went straight to KU to read it, as soon as I started reading I was engrossed in the world. Also, tell me why I was balling my eyes out before I even fully got into the book!?!
I loved the different creatures from other fantasy books, and the different elements of magic. The whole world was just so enchanting.
I still have so many unanswered questions.. need the second book asap!!

This was a fun, fast paced and high stakes fantasy romance - and it was a solid 4 stars. But before we get into the writing and plot of this book CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE COVER - IT IS GORGEOUS!!!
This had so many things that I love in fantasy romance books - the best being "Who did this to you" ofc - that was chef's kiss!!!! This really has 5o many similarities to ACOTAR and honestly I think about ACOTAR every single day, so it was great to read a book that gave similar vibes.
The FMC was very cool. She really picked things up and learnt everyone so quickly, there was no sulking about her life every single page which was good. GIRL HAD BEEN THROUGH IT - yet she got up and changed the world.
OMG the Spice in the last 20% of the book took me by surprise. Like boom, nothing to 100 very fast.
Not complaining tbf. It was very well done.
I can never not love a found family, and although there was a lot of characters, they were really fleshed out and had good background stories, which I'm excited to hear about in the next book.
I really hope this is a trilogy, I yearn for more trilogies in my life. They remain superior.
The romance was a slow burn ofc but the chemistry really came through - Deliah and Know were elite.
CAN I JUST SAY I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR ABSOLUTE HEARTBREAK AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS BOOK - its giving Sam Cortland. I am emotionally damaged from this.
It was honestly a bresh of fresh air that I actually understood the magic system and how everything worked and the political stuff. Usually I get quite confused with this sort of stuff, but with this book it was very easy to digest.
The ending was complete yet left me wanting to read the next book - excited to pick up the next book once its out.
