I really enjoyed this book! I feel that the plot was pretty original. I think its only similarity to ACOTAR is the slow-burn romance that occurs. (Honestly, by this merit you can say any other slow-burn romance novel is just like ACOTAR.) Some of the deaths were a little jarring, and for me, there were some moments that I was like "Wait, what about the citizens in the human world?" All in all, I think this book is definitely worth the read and I can't wait for the next book!

Mmmm a lot of similar tropes, dialogue and story line to both ACOTAR and TOG but I get it there are only so many new ideas out there for the fae world
I will say I was a bit confused by the time period or time setting they were going for in the world building and I think at times some extremely modern language slipped through that furthered that
I did overall like the story line and I am super interested to see where it goes and the trapped Fae in the human realms are a fab mystery
I quite like all the characters I just think the entire book was so fast paced I’ve yet to really connect with any of them. Also the easter egg dropping for twists like Aurora being her platonic bond or even Hazel and Ace need to be more finesse it was so obvious at every turn
Keen for the next one! I think it has awesome potential

(S) very much enjoyed this book. It would have been a five star if crucial scenes didn't feel rushed. Enjoyed the human and fae world elements and how strong the female lead is, and the love interest is my jam. Plot was ok…nothing original but it was good. Will def read next book though

4.5 stars. Was super fun to read, maybe a bit slow at a few points but otherwise I loved the world building in this.
2.5 stars.
First of all, I really liked Knox as a character, but he was pretty much another carbon copy of Rhysand. Right along with his court which were basically the inner circle. Idk maybe I'm just over the ACOTAR inspired characters...
The only other thing I liked about this book was the premise, but one plot quickly changed into another and the original was seemingly abandoned.
Delilah is a princess who is abused by her father, the king, until one day he kills an entire sector of 11k people and she decides she's had enough. After randomly receiving a necklace from her delirious mother she begins to see Fae who went missing 150 years prior, so along with her best friend she sets off to find out why Fae are hidden from humans.
She meets Knox, a Fae king and immediately hates him because all kings must be terrible. Next thing she's completely forgotten that her goal was to save the humans and is caught up saving the fae from the entrapment spell. (oh yeah she's a Fae now too...)
The romance goes from I hate you, to slow burn, to let's shove as many spicy scenes into the last 15% of the book as possible... and then have the evil Fae who started the spell show up for half a page and bam problems solved...
Mermaids show up in the last 2 pages to tell her the problems aren't over... duh...am I the only one who didn't forget about the humans being murdered?
Apart from the problems with the plot there were pacing issues and grammar problems that completely took me out of the book.
I can't say I'm looking forward to book 2, but I'll probably still read it.

4 ⭐ I loved the world build, magic system and story line. Fae and human worlds are painted beautifully, I loved the writing style where I could imagine everything!
There are a couple things that unfortunately made me take a star. like Delilah becoming a Fae and no one questions it or looks for answers. Everyone is like "yeah that's normal". Maybe it's saved for book 2 🤷another thing was Knox and his purring all the time. I get it in some situations but almost every time he opens his mouth? it is also advertised as "enemies to lovers" but I don't think they were enemies, more like she hated him because of his status and he liked her from the beginning.
Overall, a really nice read and I'm looking forward to book 2!

3.5⭐️ i definitely liked this and i thought the plot line was interesting!! i did have some issues with the writing and the pacing and just overall the repetition in this book. i wish we had more behind the scenes of the actual plotting instead of just action. but that being said it was still such a fun read!!
