I like to have something lighter to read while I'm knitting/crocheting, so for some reason I picked this?? I guess fictional horror is lighter than whatever is happening in the real world. Anyway, as someone who is interested in horror as a concept, but not movies, this was really fun (truly I'd like a TL;DW for all major movies). I love that Hughes gave a full, detailed recap of each film. As someone who doesn't watch movies, it was fun to learn what actually happens in some of these movies, and get context for clips or quotes I've come across. I also like that Hughes placed the films in the wider context of the world - it added a lot to each movie.

Literally written for me

It's a fun book to read if you, like me, are a weenie. Hughes does a great job giving cultural contextes and compelling play by plays of each movie. While some of the humor can fall flat (the Gen Z jokes are very lazy), I feel like I have a better appreciation for these movies and horror as a genre.

I've seen most of the movies in this book but it was still hilarious. Loved how she described the movies. Laughed out loud throughout.
