What a fun, fast paced story! Great character development and an even more fun plot. I finished it a few minutes ago and am literally about to start book #2! Just remember this is a middle grade book. While much of it is well written for adults to thoroughly enjoy, certain thoughts and scenarios are way over explained for an adult but in a completely appropriate way for kids. For that reason, I think I’ll read the next book instead of listening to the audio so I can skim over those parts. There were a few plot holes, but again this is a middle grade book!

An intriguing mystery with quite a twist. I loved how the characters interacted and used their strengths together.
Fans who liked the twist in this, might like the MG book, Concealed, or for adult readers, Dark Matter

I am not the target audience, so this is my very subjective thoughts as an adult reading for their own enjoyment

The writing is pretty young middle grade. I really didn’t care for the writing style in general even outside of that. It’s very repetitive. The plot wasn’t interesting enough for me to push through, especially knowing this is a series and according to others’ reviews, apparently doesn’t come to a full conclusion in this first book.

This would be a great read for a junior high school kid, although it's rather dark. I found that the story to be dragging, and a bit repetitive, but then again, I am not the intended audience.
