Stephen king never fails to remind me that he is in fact a man.
Excellent story and very well done audio reading. I always have trouble getting into some of Stephen Kings books, but know that eventually I will get a great read. Essentially the story is about Billy Summers who is a for hire killer. Obviously, we should see his as someone bad and dislike him. But, after you start reading this book you love him, because he is like a Dexter in a sense. He only willing to kill if the person is bad and deserves it. Unfortunately he takes on a last job that he should not have taken.
I really loved how Stephen King inputs pieces of his other books into his new books. In part of the book he mentions Hemingford Homes. I love how almost all of his books can be linked back to other books. You just have to notice the hints.
I do not want to tell you the entire story, so you will have to read it yourself.

When my grandma saw I was reading this book she said “that man is gross” and I would like to apologize to Mr.King for that statement because THIS BOOK destroyed me. I am heart broken. Truly amazing writing and story.
4/5.
I struggled with this book a good amount. Haven't really read any Stephen King before, and to be honest, the pacing for the first half really dragged.
But man.. the end really hits. The last 3 chapters somehow made the entire rest of the book worth it. I might come back to update this review once I've had more time to think on it but I really do think everyone should give this book at least 1 read through.

4.5 audio.
Big Stephen King fan. This is not a CUJO or IT story. No creepy or magical stuff within.
Very well written. Love the flow of the story. It started out as a seemingly simple story and then gradually picked up more depth and twists. Kept me engaged throughout.
For me, this story felt similar to the “Odd Thomas” series of Koontz (without the visions). Billy is a warm, likeable character who has a mission. And he has “morals” which allow him to decide “good guy” or “bad guy”…Do no harm… Or harm has been earned.
As I was reading, I was questioning “why didn’t Billy do this or why did they do that” and then “poof”, Stephen King comes through with the answers.
Not a fan of the ending.
Contains strong language, violent sexual assault, post-assault trauma.

This was really solid and entertaining. Not as scarring as a lot of Kings stuff though there still was some pretty rough themes/scenes regarding sexual abuse. Really good premise, likable protagonist, interesting twists. Almost feels like a different book halfway through but both halves were good.
