Conceptually and for its time perhaps one of the greatest novels ever written. In reading it however it drags at parts for me.

I do see what the fuss is all about. When you think about the time this book was written, the vision is AMAZING and Orwell is brilliant. It got a bit hard to read when Winston started to read large chunks of text from a book - although the book text was really really good it was suddenly weird to read these long essays in the middle of the story. And then I found the last part of the book very hard to read but that's more of a me thing.

All in all - brilliant piece of literature and it deserves all the accolades it has received and will continue to receive. One star less because of the last third of the book which felt a bit dragging along.
