I loved this book and the way it was written. It made me laugh and cry at the same time. It's about women just trying to do their best while living their lives however they want and learning to be unapologetic about it, too.

Evelyn and all the characters were so fascinating in their own ways. Each relationship was different but it all fit so well in to the story. Of course, I definitely did not always agree with Evelyn’s actions, however I loved her. She was simply unapologetically herself and knew what she wanted and got it! As for Monique, her story didn’t quite captivate me and I did figure the revelation out beforehand, however I like the reason to why she was chosen to work with Evelyn.

There was as many different challenges and scenarios bought into the book and all of which I’d me reflecting. You tend to forget how different things were 60 years ago and so this book provides that reminder as well as showing how these issues still show their faces in todays world too.

The love, happiness and highs of this book was beautiful to read but the pain, heartbreak and loss of it really pulled at the heartstrings. I think there were some parts where I felt the story slowed and wasn’t all that necessary, while there were other parts I wanted a bit more focus on. However, even with just those brief scenes where I wanted more, they still made a hell of an impact!

It was good at the beginning and with the development of the story it became boring and not surprising at all; very predictable and more of the same🤷🏻‍♀️ Not understanding all the hype around this book.

I love strong character like Hugo. The story was amazing, its a lot of things that we can agree with Hugo, and many that we will not. But I enjoy this book. Love seeing stories where characters are not black or white, but more complex and in the gray zone. It was nice to see the old Hollywood that was big and crazy back in the day. And also I love showing that being a girl is hard and will always be the battel with the system.

I cried at the end. 😭 I deeply appreciate the humanness of Evelyn but felt so unfair with what's left of Monique to feel.

I took me so long to finish this book but I'm glad I still tried to. A good read for starters!
