A fun mysterious middle grade story of an orphaned girl who gets to spend the winter holidays at a beautiful hotel called Winterhouse. She meets many characters who slowly reveal that there’s more to her stay than meets the eye. A bit of magic in the air at Christmas but best to be read around Halloween:)

cute middle grade. I would have given this four stars, but the main character bugged me a bit. She did something wrong, hurt someone's feelings, and apologized for it. The two characters made up, but then Elizabeth did the exact same thing again, to the same friend. I felt like she didn't learn anything. So that annoyed me some. But other than that a nice story.
This is a fantastic middle grade mystery novel. Magical, book-ish, and great for upper-elementary, middle school, or people like me who love middle-grade books. I read it while sick at home and it was the perfect light-hearted but still interesting read. I plan to have a copy around for my kids to read when they get a little older.

Dieses Buch hat viele Elemente, die mir an Kinder- und Jugendbüchern gut gefallen:
Eine aufgeweckte, neugierige Potagonistin, Geheimnisse und Rätsel, witzige und charmante Charaktere und etwas Magie und als I-Tüpfelchen sogar noch ein super cooles Cover + Illustrationen im Innenteil.
Leider gibt es aber auch einige Kritikpunkte, die ich wiederum nicht so gerne lese. Stereotype Bösewichte z.B., sowie eine im großen und ganzen sehr dürftige und einfach gestricke Handlung.
An und für sich ist "Winterhaus" ein tolles Jugendbuch, das viele spaßige Momente bereithält und eine rude und solide Abenteuergeschichte im winterlichen Setting erzählt, für mich persönlich fehlte aber dann doch das gewisse etwas.
Ich sehe es irgendwo zwischen 3 und 4 Sternen. Bei Kinder- und Jugendbüchern bin ich aber immer etwas generös. :)

This took me so long to read, like months y'all! I had to read it during a failed 24 hour read-a-thon lol. I was able to get through a chunk of the book in like the 5 hours that I read it. the book is alright, and Im thinking that middle grade books set in one location isn't my thing or maybe middle grade mystery books aren't for me. I mean, I'm not the target audience so take this opinion as moot. Elizabeth is tenacious but also a pushover. I'm not really a fan.
