This is definitely a YA. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. But the different girl falling for the broody boy is just not my thing like it use to be.

The story is told through the pov of four different characters and all of them are so interesting! Not that they’re people I’d necessarily like in real life but as the saying goes, the worst thing a character can do is be boring, which they’re not. All four of these kids provide a different insight into what’s going on and it’s impossible not to care about each of them.

And for a somewhat predictable genre, the ending did manage to surprise me 😅

Oh and I really enjoyed the intricate magic system they have in place. Although I do hate the spelling of “magick”, the way magic is used in this universe is really unique. And not that hard to understand once you get a few pages in.

I think the sequel will probably be darker and more ✨ villainy✨ so I can’t wait to read it

It was a bit slow to start but once the tournament actually gets going it really picks up. The magic system is interesting and unique. I like how everyone’s magic or special skill/ability seems to have a disadvantage too. Hunger Games-esque. Switching allegiances. Mysterious. Def morally gray characters. A bit of romance. Betrayal.  A good time and def looking forward to reading the second one, glad I started this once it was already out 🙃

"The Lowes didn't tell their children monster stories so they could slay them. The Lowes told them so their children would become monsters themselves."

All Of Us Villains follows a small town called Ivernhath where recently, the true nature of their town and seven famous families has been revealed, every twenty years, the families breed a champion that will enter a death game and in this book, the game is about to begin again with seven new champions!

I loved All Of Us villains, the atmosphere was amazing, the plot was interesting and kept me on the edge of my seat hoping my faves would survive! I loved the characters and the world building.

"The monsters had shrouded the room in darkness and Alistair stood hurriedly his head dizzy. Sick as he was, he still knew which monsters were the worst. Those who sat before him. No horror story compared to this one"

My favourites were definitely Alistair, Isobel and Gavin I would die for all three of them honestly, but I was worried going into this with four POV's and seven characters but it worked, it wasnt bogged down with lore but you got to know them all without getting confused. The histories of each of the families was revealed and again you dont get bored of the information because you want to learn more about each character.

THE. ENDING. I. AM. TERRIFIED. Oh my god that ending I am not ready for this sequel !!!!

Also didnt love how one relationship felt like instalove but it's a YA after all😂

Does this count as dark academia? If so, it's the only dark academia one I actually like. If not and it's more of just a straight up fantasy, it's still super good. I need to listen to the second book. It's a great teen battle royale kind of premise with similarities to the hunger games last book of the opponents banding together to want to break the system so it stops feeding on the lives of children. Really like Alistair's character and Isobel's character. Not the biggest fan of Briony and generally like Gavin as well. This is told in multiple POVs so if that's not your thing, maybe skip. But I want to know how everything ends.
