I wanted to love this book because it has some tropes I normally love, but it was just....not great. Still a fun read! But the pacing was way off, characters were over the top and I didn't believe the romance.
I recommend this book if you are looking for a soap opera style story with steamy scenes, good narration, and wonderful characters.
I WISH I could have ranked it higher. I love this series but it just didn’t do it for me. These self-sacrificing idiots were so sweet and lovely but it didn’t captivate my attention like the other books in the series.
It's an okay book.
If you have nothing better to read this will do it, the smut was a little to much for me, I don't really like insta lust, when a character just met someone and is like:
"his lips make my **** hard"
I'm like : seriously? That? Just thinking about is lips? Man, you're pretty easy to excite.
This is one of those books I will end up re-reading because I will forget about the fact that I didn't like it that much and I will focus on the cute stuff so I'm predicting this and if I indeed read this book again I will buy myself some chocolate because after I disappoint myself again I will really need it.

I loved this story. Otto and Seth are just incredible and watching everything they went through… it was beautiful to see their love win.

I wanted to love this, I really did. But I think my big problem with it was the fact that so much of the relationship between the two protagonists happens off the page. They're childhood best friends turned teenage lovers. They haven't seen or heard from each other in over a decade, and yet the second they see each other again, they're back in each other's arms? And, like, don't get me wrong, I know full well that some relationships transcend time and distance. I grew up overseas and yet whenever we came home (or visited our former overseas homes after years away), most of my friendships fell into place the way they always had. But these two guys have gone through SO MUCH in that decade, and I feel like they needed to have some actual meaningful conversations before immediately falling back into bed together.
Anyway, as a result, the actual plot - who's setting fires in town? - often fell by the wayside. Also, because I haven't read any of the other books in the series, I was thrown into a seemingly endless parade of siblings and parents and their partners and children, and it was kind of overwhelming. Add in some clunky writing and this was fine but I don't anticipate that I will read the other books in the series tbh.

Otto has left the navy after a terrible experience on a submarine. There he finds the love he lost when he was a teen, Walker, a police officer.
Walker can’t believe Otto is back, and Seth explains why he disappeared when they were younger. As things unfold, their relationship is rekindled and they solve an arsonist case together.
Lovely story of love lost and reclaimed.

Wilde Fire
A great addition to the Wilde series. I really liked the MC’s and their long love story. I was annoyed about Otto’s behavior regarding the arsonist which is the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars. It was ridiculous and dangerous behavior. He could have easily skipped the martyr BS and worked for the result that happened without all the stupid before that.

Thoughts while reading:
-first names, last names, it’s probably my slow brain, but I’m just confused as to who’s who in the beginning
-the premise is pretty ridiculous. First Seth says he would give Jolie 5 years, later he says it was 3, but he gave her 10, why??? He hinted that he didn’t have a reason not to because Otto was in the navy, but he also said he would have anyway because he wanted to find a man and not be celibate forever, even if it wasn’t with Otto. So why on earth does waste 5-7 more years beyond and sacrifice finding a man/Otto? I also think it’s ridiculous he ended things like that with Otto - he could have just told him the truth. Why couldn’t they have continued? The marriage was in name only for the benefits.
-having the crazy evil female character in books is overdone. Jolie seems delusional and ungrateful
-Otto forgives Seth way too quickly and it’s anticlimactic. Plus they get together early on and there’s so much of the book to still read. I’ll have to push myself to finish, because now it’s boring
-how does Otto and West know John was home alone during the second fire?
-Otto is such an idiot not telling his union rep. It’s like he wants to go to jail. Okay and later when he finds another clue…still a complete idiot. I mean, maybe he wants to wait until someone actually dies from the attempts before he points the finger. And he’ll jeopardize himself, go to jail, jeopardize his career and his relationship? Moron!!
-is there no end to Otto’s idiocy? He’s going to confront Hal, a minor - like that can’t go wrong. Hal could accuse Otto of threatening him or coming on to him.
Wow, I don’t usually rate books this low unless the grammar and plot are atrocious. The grammar was great, but the premise was over the top ridiculous. I said it all before, but my biggest frustrations were first Walker was an idiot sacrificing needlessly, they got together too early, then it was boring, and then Otto was an even bigger idiot. Basically it was dumb and dumber. Walker deserves to be stuck with Jolie indefinitely and Otto deserves for his career to end and serve time - they’re that stupid.
