A young lawyer gets involved with a law firm in Memphis that is too good to be true.
So take the fantasy of being $uccessfulmoneymoney from the 1980s, and turn it into a nightmare, but not a real nightmare, instead the fun kind of nightmare where it's scary but you never really feel like you're running in slow motion and the monsters are all just standing around laughing at you before they eat you, which is more or less how this story would go if it happened in real life.
It's a wish fulfillment book about a smart straight white guy being smarter then the smart straight white guys who have all the resources and have been doing this longer than he has. If you read it as an adventure story, it's pretty good, although the last third of the book feels increasingly patched together rather than properly set up. Unrealistic but a fun, solid read.

Wanted to read a fast paced thriller so I turned to the granddaddy of them all. 3.5 stars!
Hard to put down. This might not be great literature but sometimes it's nice to take a break from completely serious reading.

This was a page turner. Finishing this book has left me with a lot of questions. I really enjoyed when you had to double guess yourself and when you thought you had something accurate but you didn't. I'm curios to know if Mitch's confession that he never wanted to be a lawyer was true. Also, I connected with all the character. Mitch and Abby handled it well when they found out their house and car was wired. Tarrance's deal wasn't such a good deal due to the money Mitch had to walk away from.
