mysterious tense

A little bloated due to the unnecessary level of exposition in many parts, yet I enjoyed it. It also stood out to me the amount of sexist language in this book. It is extreme compared to previous Grisham books I've read. I hope it is just outdated and not an issue in the sequel.

DID NOT FINISH: 36%

Somehow couldn't proceed after the protagonist starts investigating. The suspense wasn't enough to turn the pages for me. But y s willing to watch the movie and maybe retry again

I bounced between 3 and 4 stars for this one. Loved the mystery throughout the first half, but felt a little underwhelmed throughout the last quarter of the book. I got tired of hearing about XYZ group of people chasing the characters. The ending was okay, but felt a little too “happily ever after.” But, the first half more than makes up for these flaws. Overall, worth a read or listen!

Kind of annoying that he never told Abby about the girl on the beach. Other than that good book.
