30 Days Of Night is a short, effective horror story with a clever premise at its center. The artwork is good and interesting, but I can't help but wonder if the story would've been more effective with less-stylized art. Nonetheless, an interesting, quick read.
It begins
This is the original story that became the movie. Great concept, gory art, scary as all get out. What makes it so scary is that the days of darkness are real, they really do have 30 days of darkness every year. No, vampires aren’t real, but when you add an element of reality into a scary movie the fear factor multiplies.

Remake?
Why is there a remake? There is still a lot of mileage in the original. Eben is killed too soon.

On this rare occasion, I enjoyed the movie more - only because this is a really short graphic novel, and the movie explored the characters more. Love the plot and concept, and the artwork is creepy (although Eben's wife looks kinda manly in some frames haha).
i never saw the movie but this was entertaining and spoooooooookey!

So the sun goes down in Barrow Alaska for the winter and then a hoarde of vampires come to eat everyone.
The art is intresting, the story and characters are simple, a little too simple.
It's probably more meant as an introduction to the series.

Wonderful modern vampire story
Is this a vampire story, a story of isolation and survival, or a love story? All of the above, with compelling artwork to build the atmosphere. Well worth a read. I have no idea where volume 2 will go.

A great concept, quickly drawn and executed. The human characters feel a bit like placeholders; more entertaining is the emergent argument between the vampires regarding the wisdom of doing an all-you-can-eat buffet in this Alaska town. Similarly, the Dave McKean-like artwork doesn’t flatter the humans (they often look hastily sculpted from clay), but it gives the vampires an eerie golem-like aesthetic.
