DNF! This is the 2nd book of Steel’s I’ve tried to read in the past few months (The Duchess being the other), and neither were worth my time. It’s beyond me how she’s able to publish this crap regardless of her former success. Where the hell are the editors? The writing is stilted, repetitive, and formulaic. This is the last one of her books I’ll ever try.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I feel all Danielle Steel books are the same and could be told in 100 pages or less. They are so repetitive and she says the same thing over and over. This book did intrigue me, however, as I wanted to know what would be Camille's fate. A little predictable.

So many recommendations, such a bad book. The writing is terrible. Pov changes mid paragraph, and is so removed that it's just awkward to read. So predictable. Blaaaahhhhh

A modern day story of a beautiful Cinderella and her evil stepmother. This story is set in Napa Valley and I could quickly see the setting with the Chateau and grape vines. Steel quickly and effortlessly laid out the setting and background and the Cinderella character quickly emerged to battle the evil stepmother. Perhaps a real life fairy godmother was involved too! I was quickly drawn in to this story and it was a quick read for me.
