Lark did an excellent job with world-building - how many NPR books do you know with harpies?? I love the dive into mythology and the creation of the harpy culture. There were a lot of steamy scenes with all three characters, so pretty dang smutty. If you like fated mates tropes and cross-paranormal matings, this book should def be on your list.

I wish the book was a bit longer and more developed on the external plot. Most of the plot is simply the characters sorting out their relationship. I would have loved to see more action around the bounty hunter plot. We also don't get much into Asa's background.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

THREE fated mates?! Dom/sub, punishment and atonement, hot huge baker switch for tattooed demon with their sub harpy. Communication could have fixed it. Triplets?! Learning about various cultures.

People trafficking. Abandonment. Wage insecurity. Accidental pregnancy. Peril. Family tradition bullshit.

I'm normally super into Lillian Larks books. This one was a little less great for me.

For most of the book, I don't get much of a sense that Asa is very (romantically) into Zeph. More that she is a means of keeping Greg and Himself together.
In general, it felt very much like Greg and Asa were in love and that Zaph was just in there because Greg's wolf saw her as someone it could dominate, that she was needed rather than wanted.

One thing that I didn't like was when Zeph had been distraught the whole morning thinking Asa had left the triad, only for Greg and Asa to have sex while she was (as far as they knew) upset outside. It seemed a bit mean considering. I understand that a scene where Greg claimed Asa was needed, but the timing seemed very poor.

I loved the look into Harpy culture and the things Zeph was giving up to have a life with her mates.

I'm hoping to see more of it in the next book

This was sooo good, I devoured this!! Knocked off a star for over-use of the miscommunication trope. There were two big conflicts/instances where the issue literally could have been solved with a simple text or note saying “be right back” instead of everyone inferring that they’ve been left for dead lmao. Other than that I loved the couple, the smut, and the plot!

I am so disappointed that this book isn't longer! I fell in love with this beautiful, mythical triad, their deep emotions and hurts, their need for acceptance and love. The sex scenes were so perfectly interspersed throughout that this book was too quick of a read.
The combination of smashing traditions and learning to trust one another and the supporting cast of these 3, set in a world of paranormal creatures, magic and modern technology, made me want more.
Lillian Lark has made me a lifelong fan, and I cannot wait for the next book in this series!

4.5 ⭐

This book was very cute, as well as very smutty.

The only reason it isn't a 5 ⭐ is because it involved miscommunication a couple of times, and i hate miscommunication, but i'm just glad it was solved relatively easy and quickly.

I liked Zeph, Asa and Greg. But I wish there was more detail as to what Greg and Asa's relationship was like before everything happened.

I can't wait to read Mace and Sophia's story in the next book!

Tws:
SpoilerSurprise Pregnancy
Miscommunication
Mentions of abortion/hurting babies
Mentions of human trafficking

I have been on a bit of a binge of Lillian Lark books and I am so glad that I have been.

Zeph is drawn into a plot to help catch a man that has been trafficking rare beings with the help of a witch and a shifter. Of course things go off the rails and Zeph ends up hurt and in need of healing. That brings her to Asa, a powerful demon who was in the area with plans of his own. Asa knew that his ex, Gregory, would be in the area working a job and was fully prepared to confront him about their break up when Zeph came crashing down onto his balcony with a ear piece with Gregory’s voice on the other end. Talk about a way to get the story rolling.

The relationship between Asa, Zeph and Gregory grows as Zeph comes to terms with what is needed from her from her community while deciding what she wants with these men. But everyone has baggage that they must get over. Asa is constantly over compensating thinking he is the least important of the relationship, Gregory is frustrated because he doesn’t feel like he can support his mates like he should while Zeph is dealing with the fall out that taking mates means in her community.

Enter the unplanned pregnancy trope. With triplets. Chaos ensues. But our lovely characters work together and try to make everything work.

When Zeph is kidnapped by the very same man they were trying to catch in the beginning the guys lose their shit. Obviously. Their pregnant mate has been taken and it was right after all their personal shit has hit the fan and they had gotten into a huge fight. The guys come to her rescue and they realize what is really important.

I love this book and this author. The characters and relationships that she creates bring all the warm and fuzzies

I should’ve heeded to the warning at the beginning of the book. I wasn’t the audience for this. So naturally, I skipped about the last 40% of this book and only focused on the smut scenes which imo were pretty basic. Hence the three stars. I really like their monster romances, but this just didn’t do it for me unfortunately!

For anyone wanting to pick this up: this is a pregnancy focust monster romance! It’s not weird or graphic or anything, pretty basic pregnancy stuff. But that’s just not my jam :)
