Dedication

I would like to dedicate the bags under my eyes to Lillian Lark. I got this book just thinking I’d read a couple of chapters a night. Right. Instead, I found myself up past 1am, two nights in a row, on work nights, but this book was totally worth it. I loved the bond between Zephyrine, Greg, and Asa and watching them navigate their newly formed relationship. And who doesn’t love a book with harpies?!

TW: unintended pregnancy

a harpy, wolf shifter, and demon walk into a bar…

the world building was cool; harpies seem like badass women. i loved greg and his bakery. asa was pretty sweet too but i didn’t vibe with him as much. zeph was probably my least favorite character.

my first MMF paranormal romance and it was an experience!

I enjoyed reading this book, but this was by far the loosest world-building in Lark's universe. There would be particular things, such as Harpie baby-rearing, and then, wait, Zeph had some truth-telling powers? Maybe?

The sex is very hot. (Minus breeding kinks, what Lark writes aligns with my tastes.) But I have a colossal quibble over Asa saying he didn't need a safe word because he's the dom. Guess what? Everyone needs a safe word, and everyone can tap out, dom or sub, top or bottom.

Most of the conflicts made sense. There's one thing Asa did that seemed somewhat out-of-character, but Lark needed to get him into that moment for the rest of the plot to work. The baby stuff was a little boring.

I am truly just such a sucker for Lillian Lark’s romances.
Not only do I love the variety of monsters and paranormal beings she uses in her stories, the love and consent and heartwarming moments just fills me with so much joy.
Also ugh the smut is very well written, very much queen energy.

MMF. I felt the relationship between MM was the strongest. I got the impression they added the F mostly out of coincidence. The spice was definitely there. Not so much of a plot. Paranormal romance were their biggest problem was unplanned pregnancy. I think this could have been a pretty cool story with some great background, but it focused pretty much solely on the pregnancy. Not what I was looking for.
