A stunning, unique book. For some reason this took me a while and didn’t grip me as much as MYOM and ATFTTB, but a lovely journey regardless
I just did not connect with this even a little. I was having a really hard time even listening to 20 minutes strsight.
Ozeki’s book of form and emptiness has a beautiful perspective towards death & impermanence of things in life, pain & beauty in the worldly ties. I love a book that’s fictious with everything too real constituting it.
I had mixed feelings about this one. I cared about Benny and Annabelle and their grief, and was interested in the voices that Benny hears. I was less into the narrative asides from the Book itself, and like many other reviewers, thought that the novel was longer than it needed to be.
I think I preferred A Tale for the Time Being, but it's hard for me to compare the two directly because it's been over five years since I read it.

The beginning of this book was fantastic. It was well paced and the characters felt well-developed and unique. However, I gave this book a 3 because I feel that it used the same tropes over and over again and by the end I got bored.
