When I first went into this, I was so excited!! I had read “Falling into Place” and I absolutely love it! So, obviously, I was interested in reading this book: expecting the same love I had for Amy Zhang’s other book. But that was not what happened. There were some aspects of this book that I liked. But most of it just made me DONE. The “twist” (if you could even call it that..??!!) was SOOooooOoo OBVIOUS!! The whole book just made me mad: I was really looking forward to this book and it let me down.

I liked how you didn't find out what happened until the end. I also liked how different the voices of Micah and Janie were. The pieces of Janie's Journal were the parts I mostly enjoyed. Sometimes, everything did feel a bit shallow, though, but overall, I liked it!

Not gonna lie, a little bit sick of YA where the guy is in love with the girl and she kinda is in love with him to bit is too cool to act on it and is so untouchable but really is battling inner demons, just a bit too cliche. Other than that (literally the whole plot) not bad.

If you like Belzhar, We Were Liars, and Looking for Alaska, you'll like this.
I would have enjoyed this book a lot more had I not been thinking, "Gosh, this is such a blatant John Green ripoff" the entire time. It introduces important topics - rape and suicide - but doesn't explore them in a way that I'd hope a YA book would. I was left feeling unsatisfied and a little gypped, because I've pretty much read this book before. It was basically a mashup of Looking For Alaska, Paper Towns and We Were Liars.
Janie and Micah. Micah and Janie. Best friends. But only in secret. For reasons.
....... Why did I want to read this book? What was I thinking?
