WHAT THE FUCK! I AM NOT OKAY😭

That ending was diabolic. How dare you, Rebecca!? Even after being spoiled, I was still fucking shocked. My heart is 💔

I absolutely loved this book. It's still my favourite series, and I've not read Onyx Storm, but I believe it's going to be another masterpiece.

Fourth Wing was my personal favourite, but I still loved Iron Flame. It was so good. Maybe the reread will be even better, like it was with Fourth Wing.

To be honest, the book started a bit slow, and it was sometimes a little boring because the book was so long and absolutely huge. It didn't help that I couldn't read it in one sitting like I did with Fourth Wing, but that's also because of university. But I enjoyed every second of it.

The amount of character growth is insane. Loved every character even more.

Let's start with Violet and Xaden. I am so glad that they started talking with each other and started being more open and honest about their thoughts and feelings. Communication is so important in relationships. Even the fights they had in the beginning were good, no relationship is perfect, and the fact they argued made it more realistic.

Violet is still my favourite female character. She is so me. All her versions, all her sides. I was so proud of her in this book after everything she achieved. She became even more powerful, and she amazes me every time. She learned to use her powers more frequently and trained even harder to become the best version of herself. Through the pain and the hurt, she bites her teeth and does it. She is unstoppable. She does not back down. She does not give up, even if everyone is against her and everything goes wrong. She keeps fighting, and she keeps trying. No matter how big the cost is, she does not back down. She sees the light, the solution, and she will succeed, eventually. This inspired me because I'm in a lot of shit right now. She is indeed my lighting in the dark. She lights up the sky and gives me hope. She is Violet Sorrengail, and she is extraordinary.

I'm glad we got a little more background about Xaden's past. First through the notes he wrote to Vi, but also about what he told her and when we got to meet his home. At the start, I was still a bit irritated with him because he was still defensive and took his distance. But I'm glad he opened up and that he started talking. No more secrets from now on. I absolutely loved how he declared his love to Violet. It was beautiful. He's hot, he's badass, and he would burn the world for Violet.

I was so mad at the end. Why does that happen to him? I hope everything will be okay in the end.

The dragons were still iconic in this book. Tairn is so grumpy dad core. Badass dragon, sarcastic and absolutely fucking funny. I liked every scene he was in.

Andarna, my sweet baby. She needs to be protected at all costs, I adore her. Loved her as a sassy teenager. She is a queen, and she knows it. She slayed, and she ate and left no crumbs (literally, lol).

The side characters slayed, like always. Rhi, Sawyer, Ridoc, Imogen, Quin... LOVE them. They bring so much more to these books, and I love their interactions.

I liked how Imogen and Violet became closer. I think they have like a bestie vibe, and it was good Vi had someone in the beginning that she could count on when she couldn't trust anyone else. Love my badass queen, Imogen.

Also, Dain has absolutely redeemed himself. Protect my guy, please. I feel so sorry for him now, like he's all alone and no one trusts him anymore. He's trying to make it up, and I support him.

The new characters were another slay. Aaric, I love that guy. Wish we saw more of him. Same with Sloane, my girl needs to be protected at all costs. The way she looks actually like Liam, and she is the only part of him that's still left. My heart💔

Speaking of Liam, bro had me bawling my eyes out when he came for Violet to support her when she was all alone and beaten up. He's still looking out for even after being gone.😭

I think it was nice to have so much world building. It was awesome. We saw different places and, we now know more about their real history and how everything works. The magic, the wards, and other stuff. I think it was also fun to know more about the fliers and the gryphons. There is so much information that makes this world unique, and it works so well. Everything fits together, like pieces of a puzzle. I can't wait till we know everything.

I'm excited about the next books. I already loved these two books, so I'm curious about the others.

A lengthy and detailed part of the bigget story. Friendships develop, new relationships forge; both good and bad. Some twists and turns. Slow and edging towards complicated in some parts, but some exciting chapters and a last 50 pages that will make you stay up too late to finish.

Wow. Another rollercoaster for the emotions. So much action packed in throughout the book that just kept me wanting more. Absolutely adore the characters, including the dragons, though did find the "ask me questions" frustrating at times and just wanted to give them both a shake.

Finishing on a cliff hanger though. Nightmare 🙈

Heartbreaking, tense, the fight scenes are amazing and the love in the writing is so palpable. Enjoyed it just as much as book one - the twists and turns were never ending. The ending was intense.

Was this a five star book? Pretty close. Could I put this book down for a second? No. Did Violet drive me insane? Yes. I know she went through some major trauma at the end of the first book, but she took a big step back emotionally. She was very immature, annoying and petty through the majority of the book. It was incredibly frustrating to read her this way when she was so forceful and strong in the first book. The constant back and forth, push and pull, between Violet and Xaden was very repetitive too throughout the book. Though there were some pretty spicy scenes mixed in, which is always fun. The plot is also much slower paced in this book. A lot seems to be happening, but at the same time not much happens at all. There was a lot of learning, researching, figuring out battle plans, practicing magic, etc. A lot of information dumping that got to be a bit much at times. Overall, this book was still an enjoyable read. There were some pretty intense, heart pounding, WTF moments scattered throughout. And the whole ending happened so fast, was so emotional and left such a huge cliffhanger that I kept thinking about it for the next few days. While this book didn’t quite stack up to the first book, I still love the world this author has created and will definitely need to read the next book.
