I loved Fourth Wing, and the sequel certainly did not disappoint! I could not put the book down for the last 50 pages, and the last two chapters had my jaw on the floor! I liked how Iron Flame explained so much more about the world that we had yet to understand from the first book, and I found myself trying to solve the mysteries throughout the book as they came along, sometimes with success and sometimes being blindsided by the story's twists and turns. I struggled a bit in the middle of the book with some of the pacing, but it really picked up towards the end and left me hungry for more! I cannot wait to read Onyx Storm and see what happens next!

I had heard a lot of mix reviews when it came to Iron Flame and I was pleasantly surprised that for me it was just as good as Fourth Wing. Getting to see Xaden and Violets relationship grow is beautiful, along with seeing how second years are treated. This book was a lot more war focused which I enjoyed and like how we didn’t just get another book solely focusing on the schooling. We see more friendship growth and get a deeper dive into all of the characters in this book. The adventures are amazing and keep you at the edge of your seat! The ending had my jaw dropping and I can only imagine how much better the story is going to get in the next book. I cannot wait!!

This was going to be a 4 or 4.5 star rating for feeling a little too long, but that ending killed me. I don’t think I’ve ever been so emotional finishing a book and that deserves all the stars.

Finished five minutes ago. Actively ripping out my hair and gauging out me eyes 😀💅 Such an amazing book, the reader is so easily immersed in the world and invested in the story and characters. God the plot twists are SO good and once you pick it up you just cannot put it down.

I think my only complaint about this book is that it could have been two fully  separate books rather than just two parts, but otherwise, I had a fantastic time reading this. For a series known for being smutty, I was impressed at how much more intense and engaging the plot is in this book compared to some other books/series out there in the same category. The author does a great job of handling some very heavy topics, and her choice to include certain twists (if you’ve read the book, you know what I’m talking about), is impressively gutsy in this genre.

Spoilers ahead!

I suspect a number of readers don’t like that Xaden turns venin at the end, but my opinion is that the story is way more interesting because of it! Also, it seemed like Violet would have done the same if her mother hadn’t stepped in when she did to take her place imbuing the wardstone.

I haven’t read Onyx Storm yet, but I look forward to seeing how the story continues from here!
